Hi Cindy; a further notable and worthy HALE was John HALE
(1723-1806), aide-de-camp to Gen. James Wolfe, Loiseburg Cape,
Breton 1758 and the plains of Abraham, Quebec, 1759. Given a
warrant by King George III to raise the 17th Dragoons, later 17th
Lancers. Can anyone help with any info on Company B -187TH
Regt., Buffalo N.Y.? My grandfathers grandfather went down from
Toronto and joined the Union Army there. I don't seem to be able
to find much on this Regt., except perhaps it was volunteer and
seemed to be a less than desirable place to be. John HALE was an
important player in North American history. As well I do have some
HALE lineage (mine) of King's Walden, Hertfordshire to 1450 that
would probably effect a great many of you American cousins.
Sincerely yours, Dean Hale Jr. 17thlancers@sprint.ca

I am just beginning to look for my grandparents geneology. My
grandfathers name was Foster Vincent HALE, from TN. He married
Myrtle Mae BROWN also from TN. They moved to Texas shortly after
that somewhere in the early to mid 1900's. I have no information
on my grandmother, but do have sibling names of my grandfather:
Claude HALE, Jessie HALE, Bessie HALE (MOATS), Thelma HALE (TRIMYER).
All except Claude, moved to Texas. I know there are some family
still in TN. I was told a story about a small town in TN named
Hales Town, where all originated. I also know that my grandfathers
ancestors fought in the civil war, resulting in the loss of a leg
on one of them. I know this isn't much to go on. But maybe the
town of Aransas Pass, Texas will ring a bell. My mother states
that she never saw her grandparents and could not even remember a
name so I really have nothing but this. Any one know or heard of
these people? Please let me know. Greg Couk glcouk@fnbnet.net

family so far but am always hoping. I am particularly seeking
information on my GG Grandfather, Wiley HAILES. He came to the

appear to be brothers. Were they? Is he a son of Joshua HAILES or
of James HAILES? GRHaleJr@cs.com

Hi. My name is Donna Hull. I am trying to find the ancestors of my
gggg grandfather, John C. HALE. He was b. in Scott Co., VA on 06
Apr.1806. He married Barshaba MILLER on 12 Aug 1830. She, too, may
have been born in Scott Co., VA. I do not know John's parents' or
(if any) siblings' names. John and Barsheba had James Randolph b.
19 Mar 1832, William Houston and Martha Jane (twins) b. 30 Mar
1834, and John C. HALE, b. 19 Sep 1836.
John migrated to Texas before 1835
and settled in the Sabine District, which is now San Augustine
County, TX. He was elected 1st. Lieut. of Company K, Col.
Sherman's 2nd Regiment of Texas Volunteers. They fought in the
Battle of San Jacinto, which was the battle that won Texas its
independence! Unfortunately, Lt. John C. HALE was one of only nine
Texans who died this battle. He is buried at the battleground.
Hale Co., Texas was named in his honor....
From this line of HALE's, the only
surviving child was my ggg grandmother, Martha Jane HALE. Her
oldest brother James died from an injury in the Civil War, her
twin died when they were 10 yrs. old, and the youngest, John C.
HALE, died 11 Jan 1837. If you have any info, I would greatly
appreciate it....Please e-mail me at hull5@mindspring.com

My name is Abbie SAHR and I live in Oregon. My father is Randy
SAHR from Washington. His mother, Patricia (my grandmother) was
the daughter of Elsie ALEXANDER and possibly a Troy HALE. I am not
positive of the first name of Troy. They lived in Washington,
either Sunnysie or Yakima. My great grandmother had two other
daughters, Millie and I don't know the other name. Elsie ALEXANDER
HALE remarried a man with the last name BECKER. My brother,
father, aunts and I all have the same coloring that no one else in
the family has that we have seen. This has piqued my curiosity of
my geneology. If you have any information on this Troy(?) HALE,
please e-mail me back. Thank you, Abbie asahr@hotmail.com

Can anyone give me any information on Benjamin HAIL, b:1790-1819,
MA, and Catherine REYNOLDS HAIL, b:1799-1822, PA? They were in
Culpeper County, VA from at least 1840-1861? Because of the start
of the Civil War, their fate is a question. They had one son,
William (L?) HAIL, b:12 Feb 1841, Culpeper Co, VA and at least one
daughter, Mary, who married a HOLLAWAY, HOLLAND or HOLIDAY.
William was drafted into the Confederate army at Culpeper, Va, May
14, 1861 and was captured May 15, 1864 at Milford, VA and taken to
the Union Prison at Point Lookout, MD. He later became a
Galvanized Yankee to save his life. Being a strong Union
sympathizer, he used an alias name in the Confederate Army, Daniel
J. MOORE, to enlist with. Your help is appreciated. Beverly Hail

I am looking for information about the parents and siblings of
Philander HALE born 1802 in Granville, Wash. Co., NY and moved to
Warsaw, Wyoming Co., NY and died 1884. He married Clara or
Clarissa HATCH and they had four children: Nancy m. Daniel CLARK;
Mary who married Edwin BANNISTER; Clarissa who married James JONES
(my gggrandmother); and Caleb HALE who married Ruth Ann FOOTE. As
far as I know his parents were Samuel HALE and Nancy NORTON who
settled in Hartford, Washington Co., NY, around 1800. Family
tradition has them from the same family as the father of Nathan
HALE, and I have found evidence that Samuel HALE and Apphia MOODY
had a son John born Jan. 16th, 1721 in Newbury, Mass. who moved to
Gloucester (Cape Ann, Mass.) and died about 1787. He had the
following children: Samuel of NY, John, Benjamin, Ebenezer, Jane,
Sally, and Hannah. Does anyone know anything more about this
Samuel or his father John. A reply to a letter my gt. grandmother
wrote in 1926 to the HALE Family Genealogy Org. of Salt Lake City,
indicated that there were possible sisters Mrs. SHOEMAKER,
Palmer, Elisha, Lydia and Margaret along with brother Reuben.
Clarissa eventually homesteaded in Washington State and there are
many descendants of her children, Margaret JONES who married James
PORTER and Ida JONES who married Rollin HALE.
Through LDS Family
Search I have located descendants of Reuben but none of us has
this missing link. Help please. Winnie Sihon wsihon@prodigy.net
