EDWARD HURST,
84, died at 7:58 a.m. Feb. 22, 2006, at Lima Memorial Health System.
He was born Sept. 22, 1921, in Bell County, Ky., to George
and Roxie Barnett Hurst, who
preceded him in death. On Feb. 24, 2004, he married Patti L. Ray, who
survives.
Mr. Hurst retired as a salesman from Easter Tire Co., after
16 years, and had worked
at
Lima Pure Oil Truck Stop. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars
Post 1275, and a member of the Disabled American Veterans and American Legion
Post 96. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors also include two sons, Eddie Dean (Kathy) Hurst and
Raymond Dale (Sue) Hurst, both of Lima; a stepson, Phillip (Heather) Thornton
of Lima; two daughters, Edna Sue (James) Jamison of Lima and Tina Sue (Jeff)
Pugh of Dayton; a brother, Leo (Delores) Hurst of Hamilton; a sister, Robirdia
(Roland) York of Middlesboro, Ky.; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren;
several nieces and nephews; and a former wife, Eleanore Kerner of New Tazwell,
Tenn.
He was preceded in death by a son, G. Mike Hurst; six
brothers, Cleston, Malcom and Hobert Hurst and three infants, Dorton, Dean and
Doyle Hurst; and a former wife, Nellie Croft Hurst.
Services will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at Chiles & Sons-Laman
Funeral Homes, Shawnee Chapel, with military rites by VFW Post 1275. The Rev.
Art Cotrell will officiate. Burial of the cremains will be at a later date in
the Hurst Family Cemetery, Hutch, Ky.
Friends may call from noon until time of services Saturday at
the funeral home.
