An Arjay man was killed Saturday in a traffic
accident on Highway 66.
Laymon Jackson, 49, was driving south on highway 66 at about noon Saturday when
he drifted across the center line and sideswiped a Mack dump truck, according to
Kentucky State Police.
Jackson's vehicle, a 1996 Chevy Monte Carlo, went into a spin after colliding
with the truck and came to rest facing west on the shoulder of the roadway.
The Mack truck was driven by Darrell Collins, 35, of Flat Lick. He was not
injured in the accident.
Jackson was pronounced dead at the scene by Bell County Deputy Coroner Bill
Bisceglia.
Detective Doyle Halcomb and Trooper J. Anderson Bell of the Kentucky State
Police responded to the accident along with members of the Bell County Rescue
Squad and Constable Fish Mills.
