RICHARD E. “HORSE” McMILLEN Sr., 69, died June 19, 2006, at
his residence.
He was born Jan. 18, 1937, in Hardin County to Walter and
Marie “Alfa” Bowers McMillen, who preceded him in death. He
married Vivian Albaugh, who died in 1988.
Mr. McMillen retired in 1999 as a construction worker from
Churchill Construction Co. after 25 years. He had also worked at
Northwood Asphalt. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370,
Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 199 and American Legion Post 96. He had played
football for Forest and Kenton and trained horses at Steiner’s Farm. He was a
Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Survivors include a son, Richard E. McMillen Jr. of Lima; a
daughter, Debora (Gay) Neace of Buckland; a sister, Etta Mae Gross of
Wapakoneta; and his friend, Mary Sanders of Lima.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles McMillen.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Chiles & Sons-Laman
Funeral Homes, Shawnee Chapel. The Rev. Howard Allison will officiate. Burial
will be in Grant Cemetery, Grant, with military rites by Veterans of Foreign
Wars Post 1275.
