HOMER SMITH,
61, died at 4
p.m. May 8, 2006, at his residence.
He was born March 1, 1945, in Fount, Ky., to Clark and Belle
Jones Smith, who preceded him
in
death. On Nov. 11, 1965, he married Linda Lou Sebers, who survives in Lima.
Mr. Smith was a custodian at S h a w n e e schools. He had
also worked at F r u e h a u f,
Delphos, for 28 years, and at J.B. Tool, Wapakoneta, for 10 years. He was a
member of Lima Missionary Baptist Church since 1966, where he served as deacon
since 1991 and sang bass for its Truth Singers. He loved his grandchildren,
coon hunting and gardening, but serving the Lord came first and foremost in
his life.
Survivors also include a son, the Rev. Donald R. (Jodie)
Smith of Shawnee; a daughter, Rebecca (Blain) Brock of Harrod; six
grandchildren, Elizabeth Brock, Trey Brock, Mackenzie Brock, Olivia Brock,
Zebulon Smith and Solomon Smith; and nine siblings, Delmer (Faye) Smith of
Girdler, Ky., Creedy (Gloria) Smith, Emma (Arnold) Neal and Irene (Terry)
Blake, all of Lima, Nan (Jim) Patrick of Delphos, Prudie (Johnny) Buchanan of
Barboursville, Ky., Sarah (Greg) Sneary of Lima, Goldie (the Rev.
Ron)
Brewer of Harrod and Teresa (Gary) Nelson of Bellefontaine.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Sue Smith; a
brother, Clark Smith Jr.; and a niece, Della Susan Blake.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at Lima Missionary
Baptist Church. The Revs. Terry Brock and Denny Hunter will officiate. Burial
will be in Fairmount Cemetery, near Uniopolis.
Friends may call from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Siferd
Funeral Homes, Westwood Chapel, and one hour prior to services Thursday at the
church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the building fund at
Lima Missionary Baptist Church.
