CHAYTOR, Alma - Passed peacefully away at the Hoyles Escasoni Complex on Monday, November 6th, 2000, a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Predeceased by her husband, Capt. J. Clifton Chaytor and daughter Joyce Duff. Left with cherished memories, daughter Anne Wakelin (Brian); sons: Clifton (Linda) and Peter (Laurie); son-in-law Patrick Duff (Millie); grandchildren: Lisa, Lynn, Launa, Lori, Darlene, Chris, Paddy, Andrew, Barry, Jason, Jamie, Jacob and Eric. Also left to mourn is a special granddaughter, Shannon; 19 treasured great-grandchildren; a large circle of relatives, friends and the special caregivers/ friends at the Hoyles Escasoni Complex. Resting at Carnell`s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m.; Wednesday from 10-12 noon, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.; and Thursday from 10 a.m. - 12 noon. Funeral Services to take place on Thursday, November 9th, 2000 at 2 p.m. from St. John the Evangelist Church, Topsail, with cremation to follow. A private interment will take place at a later date.

BYRNE, Harriett - Passed peacefully away after a short illness on Friday, June 2, 2000, at the Health Sciences Centre, Harriett Byrne (Chaytor), age 89 years. Predeceased by loving husband William, 1987, brother Capt. Cliff Chaytor, parents James and Rhoda Chaytor. Leaving to mourn, one brother Bob Chaytor (Rosa), sisters Violet Smith (Ron), Hazel Pelley, Allison Cedarholm, U.S.A., Marjorie Boulter (Sherman), Barrie, Ont., Dorothy Halliday (Albert), Audrey Petten (Cliff); special friends, Kelvin and Marg Fowler and O`Brien family (Stephen), Bernie Quinlan (Linda), special grand-nephew Paddy Duff, niece Ann Wakelin (Brian), as well as a number of nieces and nephews and a large circle of relatives and friends. Resting at the James J. Hickey Memorial Funeral Home, Kelligrews. Visitation Sat., 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., Sun. 10-12 noon, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral to take place on Monday, June 5, at 2 p.m. at St. John Evangelist Church, Topsail. Interment at R.C. CHAYTOR, HAZEL(nee Sharpe) – Passed peacefully away,

Saturday, Aug. 4, 1984 at the Health Science Centre after a lengthy illness, Hazel Chaytor, age 51, beloved wife of Graham.  Left to mourn besides her husband, five daughters Judy(Mrs. Calvin Billard) in Kelligrews; Elizabeth, in Don Mills, Ontario;

Glenys, Glenda, and Carol-Anne at home; one son Philip at Chamberlains; her mother, Mrs. Eliza Sharpe of Paradise; six brothers Frank(wife Lillian); Ronald(wife Doreen); Kenneth(wife Ruby); Tom(wife Lillian) all of Paradise; Eric(wife Ruby) of St. John’s and Philip(wife Myrtle) of Mt. Pearl; five sisters Isabelle Sears, Topsail Rd.; Elsie (Mrs. Arthur Oates) Mt. Pearl; Stella (Mrs. Michael Halley) Kitchener, Ontario; Gladys Sharpe, Topsail Rd.; Linda (Mrs. Lloyd Dawe) Paradise; six grandchildren; also a large circle of family and friends.  Special mention Rose and Gordon Thompson, brother-in-law Malcolm Chaytor, wife Julia;

Resting at Hickey’s Funeral Home, Kelligrews.  Funeral service Monday, Aug 6, 2:30pm at St. John the Evangelist Church, Topsail.  Internment at the Topsail Anglican Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be forwarded to the General Hospital Foundation or St. John the Evangelist Church, Topsail.

Note:  This is my grandmother.  I am the oldest of the six grandchildren mentioned. She died of a brain tumor.

 

KENDALL, Gertrude (nee Chaytor) - Passed away Gertrude Kendall of Ramea, formerly of Chamberlains, on Saturday, July 31st, 1999. Age 80 years. Predeceased by her husband, Austin, on March 23rd, 1987. Leaving to mourn two sons: Robert (Roberta) and Austin (Laura), Ramea; two daughters: Frances Lushman (Mike), Ramea and Phyllis Davis (Solomon), Port Aux Basques; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters: Emma Taylor, Long Pond, Bertha Butler (Charles), Foxtrap; one step-brother-in-law Richard Westcott, Harbour Main; many nieces, nephews and friends; and special godchild Violet Butler, Foxtrap. Funeral took place at Ramea.

(Gertrude is the daughter of Frederick and Ruth Chaytor, she is listed in the 1921 census. Where it says Richard Westcott, step-brother in-law, it should be half-brother inlaw. Richard was married to Gertrude's half-sister Jessie Chaytor. Both Gertrude & Jessie shared the same father, but Jessie's (as well as other of Fred's children) mom was Mary Jane Chaytor (nee Dowden) who died of TB in 1907.  Gertrude was the half-aunt of my grandfather Graham Chaytor.)

 

CHAYTOR, Henry J.
Passed suddenly away at the Health Sciences Centre on Wednesday, May 24th, 2000,
Henry J. Chaytor of Chamberlains. Age 47 years. Predeceased by his parents Ned and Bertha
Chaytor, brother David and sister Helen. Leaving to mourn his loving and devoted wife 
Beverly (Butler). Also leaving to mourn five brothers: Don (Mary), Clarence (Sylvia), Kevin (Brenda), 
Fred (Sharon)and Paul; three sisters: Barb Dawe (Kevin), Mary Lambert (Lindy) and Marie;
also brother-in-law Stan Butler (Doris); 14 nieces and nephews; also special friends Roy and Linda
Greeley; and a large circle of relatives and friends. Resting at the James J. Hickey Memorial 
Funeral Home, Kelligrews.  Visitation on Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.; friday 10-12 noon, 2-4 and 
7-9 p.m.  Funeral time to be announced. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations

CHAYTOR, Mary Bertha - Passed peacefully away on December 29, 1990 at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, 
Mary Bertha (Fewer) Chaytor, aged 74 years.  Predeceased by husband Ned in 1978. Lovingly remembered by three
daughters: Barbara (husband Kevin Dawe), Mary (husband Lindy Lambert),
Kitchener, Ontario and Marie; six sons: Don and wife Mary, Clarence and
wife Sylvia, Kevin and wife Brenda, Fred and wifeSharon, Kitchener, Ontario,
Henry and wife Bev and Paul. Sister Helena and husband Bill Vajdak, San Diego, 
California; 12 grandchildren as well as a number of relatives and friends.
Resting at Hickey's Funeral Home, Kelligrews. Funeral will take place at St. Thomas
of Villa Nova, Manuels on Monday, Decemeber 31, 1990 at 10a.m. Interment to follow
at the R.C. Cemetery, Chapels Cove.

Mercy Hospital on Wednesday, January 20, 1999, Harvey
Chaytor, Chamberlains, age 79 years. Leaving to mourn one
sister Frances Dawe (John); two brothers: Gordon (?) and
Robert; special friends: Bern and Louise Mercer, also
nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends. Resting at
the James J. Hickey Memorial Funeral Home, Kelligrews until
noon Friday. Funeral to take place on Friday January 22nd at
2:00 p.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, Topsail.
Interment at the Anglican Cemetery, Topsail. January 21,

Berkshire, Frederick Fletcher
Passed peacefully away at the Health Science Centre, June 6,
2000, aged 78 years. Leaving to mourn his loving wife Valda
(Chaytor) of 46 years; two sons: Bruce (Betty); Fred
(Susan); two daughters, Bernice Breen (Harold); Sandra
Ripley (Alan); four grandchildren: David, Michelle, Lisa and
Krista; one sister Edna Chaytor; brothers Maynard (Carrie)
and Allan (Sylvia); also a large circle of other relatives
and friends. Resting at The James J. Hickey Memorial Funeral
Home, Kelligrews until noon Friday. Funeral will take place
on Friday, June 9th at 2:00 p.m. at the United Church,
Topsail. Interment at the United Cemetery, Topsail. Flowers
gratefully accepted or donations may be made to a charity of
one`s choice.
