Indiana was admitted to Statehood on December 11,1816 and is nicknamed the Hoosier State. The largest cities in Indiana are Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, Evansville, Gary and South Bend with Indianapolis being the capital. States that border Indiana are Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan and Ohio. The State flower is the peony and the State bird is the Cardinal. The main agriculture is corn, soybeans, hogs, cattle, dairy products and eggs, and the main industry is steel, electric equipment, transportation equipment, chemical products, petroleum and coal products and machinery.
