REED, Mrs. Fanny - Springdale, Ark. - Word has been received by relatives here of the death of Mrs. Fanny Reed, 60 years old, Tuesday at a hospital at Sedro Wooley, Wash. She was born at Johnson, Ark., south of Springdale, July 17, 1887. She went to the state of Washington in 1912. [undated newspaper column]

REED, W. Penn - W.P. Reed, who has been sick for quite a long time, passed away Sunday morning at his home west of Johnson and was buried at Elm Springs Monday evening. REED, W. Penn - In the death of George Taylor Saturday evening and of Penn Reed Sunday morning, Elm Springs township and Washington County has lost two of their best citizens. Both men had lived in this township for over fifty years, both were members of the Methodist church at Grand View, both at the time of their death were Clear Creek Valley farmers living within two miles of each other. Mr. Taylor was buried at Mt. Comfort Sunday. Mr. Reed was buried in the Elm Springs cemetery Monday. The funeral services were conducted by Dr. D.C. Summers assisted by Rev. Y.A. Gilmore. The very large crowd at the funeral showed in some degree the very high esteem in which Mr. Reed was held. {Springdale News, 25 May 1906]

RITCHIE, Gladys - Gladys D. Ritchie, 83, of Springdale died Feb 25, 1992, at Springdale Memorial Hospital. She was born Jan. 28, 1909, in Madison County, the daughter of Noah G. and Mattie L. Logue Duncan. She was a homemaker and a member of Johnson Church of Christ. Her husband, Earl Ritchie, preceded her in death. Survivors include one son, Herman Boyd of Springdale; two brothers, Mirl Duncan of Bend, Ore., and Earl Duncan of Colfax, Calif.; two sisters, Ethel Johnson of Springdale and Margelene Watkins of Inola, Okla. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Johnson Church of Christ with Paul Woodhouse officiating. Burial will be in Stuckey Cemetery under the direction of Sisco Chapel of Springdale. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Sisco Chapel.[Springdale News obit]

ROGERS, Joye K. - Springdale - Joye Kathryn Cox Rogers, 86, of Springdale died Dec. 27, 1997, at a Fayetteville nursing center. She was born July 31, 1911, in Stoney Point to Sim A. and Carrie B. Cardwell Luper. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Springdale and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a former member of the Northwest Medical Center Auxiliary. Survivors include one daughter; Jean C. Little of Springdale; one brother, Everett Luper of Fayetteville; two grandsons, Wayne Little of Denver, Colo., and Rick Little of Springdale; three great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wendesday at Memorial Funeral Home in Springdale with the rev. Burton Miley Officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens.

ROTHROCK, Irvin - [HEADLINE:I.R. Rothrock Former County Judge, Dies] Springdale (Special)- Irvin R. Rothrock, 86, resident of Route 4, Springdale, died unexpectedly this morning at the home of his son, Thomas Rothrock, with whom he had made his home for the past 10 years. Born October 10, 1872 in Lawrence, Kan., he was a graduate of Kansas University, where he played football. After receiving a master's degree in chemistry, he worked as a chemist for Baton Rouge Sugar Company in Baton Rouge, La., for Armour and Company in Chicago, Ill., and Baltimore, Md. He moved to Springdale in 1910 from Baltimore and became a fruit farmer. He was chosen Master Farmer of Arkansas by the Progressive Farmer and the University. He served in the Arkansas legislature from 1928 to 1934, and as county judge from 1937 to 1943. Mr. Rothrock was one of the organizers and a past president of Tornado and Mutual Insurance Company of Arkansas. He was a member of the State Plant board for 30 years, was school director in the Stony Point community, and active in civic and farm affairs in this area. He was a member of the Baptist Church. His wife, Anna Thomas Rothrock died October 14, 1949. Survivors are one son, Thomas, Springdale; one sister, Mrs. Ada Hilkey, Prattsville; three grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted in the Johnson Baptist Church. Burial will be in Bluff cemetery under the direction of Callison-Sisco Funeral Home, the time to be announced.

ROTHROCK, Mrs. Anna - Mrs. Anna Thomas Rothrock, 80-year-old resident of Stony Point Community, died this morning at 6:03 in City Hospital, Fayetteville, where she had been taken about one o'clock in an ambulance. She had been in failing health for the last few years. She was born October 3, 1869, at Sylvan, Pa., the daughter of Henry Thomas and Sally Cook Thomas, both of Pennsylvania. She was prominent in church and civic activities of Springdale until her health forced her to give them up. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, past synodical president of the Arkansas synod of the Presbyterian Church, past president of the Clarence E. Beely Post, American legion Auxiliary, and former member of the Ladies' Country Club and Booklovers Club. Survivors include her husband, Irvin R. Rothrock, former county judge and state representative; her sons, Thomas Rothrock of Springdale, and three grandsons. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon, October 15, at two o'clock at the Baptist Church in Johnson, with Rev. Ewell Logue conducting. Pallbearers will be Brewster Fraker, Luther Johnson, Al Luper, B.B. Brogdon, Andrew Shipp and Frank Johnson, Burial will be in Bluff Cemetery, Springdale, under direction of Callison-Sisco Funeral Home. (Washington Co., AR newspaper clipping hand dated Oct 15)

Ewell Logue officiating. Bruial will be in Bluff Cemetery under the direction of Callison-Sisco Funeral Home. Survivors besides her husband include a son, Thomas Rothrock, Springdale and three grandchildren. Pallbearers are Brewster Fraker, Luther Johnson, Al Luper, B.B.
