Notes for ABRAHAM NEWRICK: Probate Liverpool 7 January 1936 to Rose Newrick, widow, effects £612 3s 10d. [Probate information supplied by Jane Cavell]

My other area of concern is that now I have "fixed" the software conflict and have put in Abraham's unnamed wife before Rose Lipshaw, I have Henry as the younger son of the first wife; born about 1895/6 (I have seen his grave stone and he was 21 when he died in March 1917). Either there is a masonry mistake, which seems unlikely given his death age was relatively young, or there is something possibly a bit odd. According to Barbara Newrick (David's daughter) the children of the second marriage include Isaac (born 1896). According to Jane Cavell (the NEWRICK researcher) Abraham is in the GRO index twice, once in Liverpool in 1889 and again in Nantwich in 1894. If the first wife died pre 1894 she could not have had Henry in 1895/6! I will try to look into this because there cannot be that many births, deaths and marriages in that time frame. It's just a case of remembering to check all variant spellings.

Notes for HAYA (FANNY) LANDA: Fanny died on Yom Kippur 1960. Joyce Rose told us this story about the death of a Newrick (but she couldn't remember which one) who died on Yom Kippur. Edith was not sure if they could break the fast and have food and drink because of the *shock* of the death or not and something to do with prayers and sitting Shiva. This is bourn out by the fact that Fanny died on the right day and that the burial did not take place until the Sunday, 2nd October. Death must have been registered on the Saturday, as it fell in the December quarter not the September quarter. Gravestone reads: Also of his wife Fanny Newton mother of Edie, granny of Valerie died 30 September 1960 May she Rest in Peace
