Obituaries of Chris and Ingeborg Hansen  


 

        Christ Hansen        

             ( Feb. 16th, 1859 - Dec. 21st., 1942 )

         Funeral of Pioneer Faulk County Settler held here Wednesday

 

Funeral services were held here at the Luthern Church Wednesday
afternoon for Christ Hansen, who died at the hospital early Monday
after a short illness.  Mr. Hansen was an early settler, and was known through out the southern part of the county. 

Rev. H.A. Birner, pastor of the local church was in charge of the services and interment was made in the Faulkton Cemetery. 

Christian Hansen, known as Christ, was born in or near Oslo, Norway on Feb. 16, 1859 and was married to Ingeborg Iverson August 22, 1885 at Grand Station, Norway.  they came to Waupaca, Wisconsin, arriving there October 5th of the same year.  They moved to South Dakota in March of 1888, homesteading in Faulk County.  They have lived there ever since.

Mr. & Mrs. Hansen had eleven children, 6 boys and 5 girls:  one daughter
Ida (pronounced Eda) died in infancy.  He is survived by his widow and children.  Annie Caroline=Mrs. Joseph Kuper of Highmore, Gena Josephine=Mrs. Frank Gross of Valier, Montana, Ida Christina=Mrs. Wm. Eschenbaumof Faulkton, Lisa Olava=Mrs. Maurice Kinsley of Deadwood, Halbert Hansen of Orient, John of Faulkton, Helmer of San Francisco, Calif., Martin, Otto and Karl Theodore, who are at home.  There are 29 Grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. 

 

   Mrs. Christ (Ingeborg Hansen

   ( Dec. 22nd, 1863 - July 12th, 1945 )         

 

               Funeral of Mrs. Christ Hansen held at Luthern Church

 

Funeral services were held for Mrs. Christ Hansen at the First Luthern Church, Faulkton Saturday, July 14th with Pastor H.A. Birner officating.  Interment was in the Faulkton cemetery.

Mrs. Ingeborg Iverson Hansen was stricken by death on the morning of July 12, in the midst of her daily round.  She had reached the age of 81 years, 6 months and 21 days. 

Mrs. Hansen was born in Norway on the 22nd day of December, 1863.  On August 22nd, 1885 whe was married to Christian Hansen.  After their marriage she hand her husband sailed almost immediately for the United States. 

For three years they made their home at Waupaca, Wis.  They moved from there to South Dakota, where they homesteaded the farm where they lived until their death.

Mrs. Hansen was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Ida in 1890, and by her husband on Dec. 21st., 1942.  It is of interest to note that they enjoyed 57 years together before he died. 

Mr. & Mrs. Hansen had 11 children, ten of whom survive, they are:

Mrs. Joseph Kuper - Annie of Orient

Mrs. Frank Gross - Josephine of Valier, Montana

Halbert Hansen of Orient

John Hansen and Mrs. Wm. Eschenbaum-Ida of Faulkton

Mrs. Maurice Kinsley-Elizabeth of Lark, Utah

Helmer Hansen - Trail, Oregon and Martin, Otto and Theodore Hansen with
whom she made her home.  Also 30 grandchildren together with 11 great
grandchildren have also lost a loved grandmother.

All in all, her community lost a good friend and neighbor and many will
feel her absence.

Note:  Ida writes:  "You might note the different places they were suppose to of lived, no record, so it is just a guess from memory and the 10 of us differs.  Thru these writings I know I make mistakes also.

Father recorded that their second daughter that died was Ida too.  Malinda still insists her name was Eda, but Dad's record has it "Ida."  without a second name.
