Note    N16-250         Back to Index        Back to Owen H.D. Parker and Waity Chute Parker.
Notes on Owen H.D. Parker and Waity Chute Parker:

Waity Chute's husband was originally recorded as "Owen Palmer", the son of "Enoch Palmer", but this was recently corrected:

"Hello,

I was doing some research on your great web site and noticed that Waity Chute b. 30 Jan 1847 (d/o William Chute b. 1806) is listed as marrying Owen PALMER.

I believe her husband is Owen H.D. PARKER (not Palmer). Their daughter, Iva Eileen Parker married my GG Uncle Percival Amasa KILLAM and their marriage record is found in the Berwick Register: http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~canbrnep/vitstat1909.htm.

You can also find the Parker family in the 1901 and 1911 Nova Scotia Census.

I hope that is some help to you and your site is fabulous."

Notes on Samuel Burton Chute and Harriet Chute:

[WEC]"They moved from Cornwallis, Nova Scotia to Bayham in June 1842; lived there and in Malahide (on the farm of Philip Barteaux), seven years; moved to Princeton, Marquette County, Wisconsin in 1849; moved again to Joe Davies, Faribault County, Minnesota in 1859, where they are doing well on a good one-quarter section (160 acres). During twenty-seven years, they visited the old home but once, in 1869."

"Yes, Grandmother Harriet Chute was Samuel Burton's cousin, so she was a Chute before he married her. Isaac Newton told me that Samuel Burton Chute drove the first team of six oxen -- with wagon -- & Harriet drove the second 3-yoke team and the last wagon. Harriet is supposed to have been a peppery gal, just as ready and able to fight indians as to fight Samuel Burton." George Roger Chute to George M. Chute, Jr., 24 October 1967
