State of Tennessee, Plaintiff vs William LOUGAN, defendant - Indictment for Petit Larceny
This day appeared the Solicitor General in behalf of the State and the defendant in proper person being arraigned and charged on the bill of indictment pleadeth not guilty and for his trail puts himself upon his Country and the Solicitor likewise and thereupon came a jury of good and lawful men, to wit, Josiah FARMER, Drury BELL, Lewis COBB, Robert LONG, Matthew DOSS, William ARNOLD, Elijah HUGHS, J. ROBERTSON, Richard WILLIAMS, Richard GRIFFIN, Robert WHITEHEAD and David J. WALTON who being duly elected, tried and sworn the truth to speak upon the issue of traverse upon their oath do say that they find the defendant guilty as is charged in the bill of indictment. It is therefore considered by the Court that the defendant William LONG __ be taken to the public whipping post betwixt the hours of two & three receive on his bare back fifteen strikes & that judgement be ordered up against __ for costs of this prosecution __ Clk issue certificates.

This day came the parties by their attornies and thereupon came a jury of good and lawful men to wit, Josiah FARMER, Drury BELL, Lewis COBBS, Robert LONG, Matthew DOSS, William K. ARNOLD, Julius JUSTICE, Elijah HUGHS, Richard WILLIAMS, Richard GRIFFIN, Robert WHITEHEAD & David J. WALTON who being duly elected tried and sworn the truth to speak upon the issue. Joined upon their oaths do say that they find the issue in favor of the plaintiff and do assess his damage to ten dollars.
It is therefore considered by the Court that the plaintiff recover of the defendant the sum of eighty dollars eighty seven & half cents ___ the debt mentioned in the plaintiff's declaration. Also the sum of ten dollars. The damages aforesaid assessed by the jury aforesaid and his cost by him about his suit in this behalf expended.

This day came the plaintiff by his attorney and motioned the Court for judgement against Joshua FORD for the amount of a judgement & costs rendered against him on a note of hand executed by Joshua FORD & Thomas WILLIAMS his security to William MITCHELL and because it is uncertain to the Court here whether the said Thomas WILLIAMS is security in said note and thereupon came a jury of good and lawful men, to wit, Josiah FARMER, Drury BELL, Lewis COBBS, Robert LONG, Matthew DOSS, William K. ARNOLD, Julius JUSTICE, Elijah HUGHS, Richard WILLIAMS, Richard GRIFFIN, Robert WHITEHEAD & David J. WALTON who being duly elected tried and sworn the truth to speak upon whether or not Thos WILLIAMS is security in said note who upon their oaths do say that Thos WILLIAMS is security in said note. It is therefore considered by the Court that Thos WILLIAMS recover of Joshua FORD the sum of ninety dollars eighty seven and a half cents debt damages also the sum of eleven dollars seven & a half cents costs of suit expended against said WILLIAMS together with the costs of this motion.

It is therefore ordered by the Court that Bartley PITTS together with Major GREGORY & hands Joseph PITTS, Elijah WILLIS, Isham STRICKLIN, John STRICKLIN, Henry STRICKLIN, Patsy PITTS hands, John HOLLAND, Jacob TRAUGHBER Jr., William TRAUGHBER, Daniel TRAUGHBER, Sarah HOLLAND's hands, George BARBEE & hands William PAISLEY, James GEORGE, Thomas STRICKLIN, Alston BARER, & John GREGORY open said road & work the same from the State line to Henry HART's & keep the same in repair according to law.

Upon petition of Pleasant EASLEY filed his __ to keep a ferry on Red River immediately below GORHAM's old mill & that he be permitted to charge at the following rates for ferriage, to wit, for each person & beast 12 1/2 cents for cart 25 cents for a waggon or pleasure carriage 50 cents.

before a Justice of the Peace in favor of the plaintiff against the defendant for the sum of thirteen dollars ninety three and three fourth cents debt together with the costs of suit rendered 27th of May 1824 upon which execution issued & was returned to this Court levied on 100 acres of land lying on the waters of Sturgeon Creek adjoining John STOW, Joseph WASHINGTON & David T. PORTER as the property of Peter WYNN there being no personal property found to satisfy the same. It is therefore ordered by the Court that a vendition exposes issue commanding the Sheriff to expose to public sale the aforesaid 100 acres of land as the property of Peter WYNN to satisfy the debt and cost aforesaid together with the costs of this motion.
