My father was a very wise and intelligent man. He only had a 6th grade education but read everything he got his hands on. Many people would come to him for advice. He came up from the horse and buggy through the train, auto, plane, telephone, electric lights, radio, T.V. and transistor along with all those new fangle appliances. His comment was, "You have not seen anything yet!" This was at a time when most people could not visualize that no one can improve on new inventions.
Two predictions he made stand out today. After I graduated from college and was teaching in school. My father said I will never live to see it but some day they will show you over the telephone what they want you to see. That technology developed but was not used on telephones except experimentally. Maybe it was because the telephone always rings when you are taking a bath. It was used in telecommunication.
One night I came in and was commenting on how pretty the moon was. My father said "I will never live to see it, and you probably won't either but someday they will send a man to the moon."
If he had lived 11 more years he would have seen his prediction come true.
My father was a small man weighing about 160 pounds but strong. He walked everywhere when he could ride. He took vitamins everyday. He was never in a hospital until he was over 90yrs old. He had light brown hair when young,
white later in years, deep blue piercing eyes, slim well defined Gordon nose and had all of his teeth when he died. Although today he would be called a health advocate, he did dip snuff.
