PURPOSE AND POLICY:

The Society is formed exclusively for the purpose of the collection, preservation and dissemination of genealogical material and to prevent the thoughtless destruction of private and public documents, to provide a service to those engaged in family research, to organize workshops in the field of genealogy and family history, and to foster support and promote genealogical interest and understanding about the southwestern areas of the State of Minnesota.

The membership fee is $20.00 and goes from September until August of the following year. You will receive the Prairieland Pioneer publication with your membership. For membership, write to the above address, or click on our e-mail at our web site: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~cmolitor/index.htm or e-mail pgs@starpoint.net. If you wish a membership card, please enclose a SASE. Back issues of the Prairieland Pioneer are $5.00 which includes handling and postage.

There is no limit to the number of queries a member, or non-member, may submit for publication in the newsletter. They will be published as space permits.

Regular meetings for the Society are held on the second Saturday of each month, at 1:30 PM at the History Center from September to April. The public is strongly encouraged to attend.

You can also purchase publications, join the Society for the Study of Local and Regional History, and Purchase a CD with all Lyon County Minnesota Cemeteries and burials on it, plus some from Redwood, Lincoln, Pipestone, Jackson, Yellow Medicine & Nobles county.
