CORNELIUS' FAMILY & THEIR WILLS

Cornelius snr. willed most of his estate to younger son John, with an intended entail.
John's Will gave Cornelius jnr. life-time usufruct of Frinton property; otherwise J. D. Barbut inherited.
Survivor Cornelius jnr., mother unknown to date, challenged his brother's Will.

CHARLATAN CORNELIUS' COLOURFUL CAREER

Accounts of his career as a quack, and as a gentleman at Court.
How he was robbed and how 'Old Mob' got the better of him.
His publicity, his property, and those who opposed him.

WHO WAS BARBUT(T)?

This would seem to be the Barbut who had a problem at the Post Office ...
Did he encounter Cornelius' family through their positions at Court?
Was Barbut a victim of corruption, or of political manoeuvering?

JAMES TILBERG FROM HAMBOURGH

Another quack! Was the name just a coincidence?

ANDREW STONE & THE DUKE OF NEWCASTLE

Andrew Stone is mentioned in John David Barbutt's list of correspondents.
Stone was in the employ of the Duke of Newcastle, then of his brother George II.
