The Sir Allan McNab departed Liverpool 28 October, 1853 with 17 families from Coigach emigrating to Tasmania, the passenger list includes at McNab 530 a 24 year old Alexander and 28 year old Helen from Isle Martin, apparently the two above. However, the hiring list of the emigrants (Hiring List) notes Alexander with wife Margaret, aged 21, which corresponds to a marriage shortly before the departure, 30 September, 1853, of Alexander MacLeod to Margaret MacLeod. A little confusion.
The death is registered 29 August, 1869 at Isle Martin of Simon Macleod, aged 98 years, husband of Christina McKenzie, his parents noted as having been Murdoch McLeod and Helen, maiden surname Grant, Informant his son-in-law Alexander MacLeod, Resident at Strathan.

Isle Martin 71-36
Malcolm McDonald Head Mar 59
Notes on this Household:
Crofter & Fisherman
Roderick Do. Son Unm 24 Fisherman
Anne McLennan Servant Unm 17 General Servant
This Household appears in Enumeration District #3, page 10. All were marked as born in Lochbroom. The word "Crofter" in Malcolm's occupation was later crossed out.
In the 1861 census Malcolm and his now missing wife Janet with four children were at Annat, Scorrag, south of Ullapool, see Scorag 61-71 (Annat). In 1851 Malcolm and Janet were at Altnaherie 51-1 opposite Ullapool, his occupation then noted as "Fery Man". In 1891 Malcolm and his wife Janet are at Ullapool 91-145.
Malcolm's brother Roderick died shortly after the 1841 census, but Roderick's widow Anne (Graham) is in this census with a daughter at Achiltibuie 71-28, another of Ann's daughters is at Achiltibuie 71-21.
I think Malcolm was closely related to the McDonald family at Reiff 71-73.
The death of Malcolm is registered as 23 April, 1893 at West Terrace, Ullappol (same place he was in 1891 census), aged 81 years, married to Janet Maclean. His parents both then deceased, mother Barbara noted as Maiden Surname MacIver. Informant of the death was his grandson, John Macdonald, resident at Morefield.
