Driscoll of Cork
Roll Call: Amy Higgins Tull

My Daniel Driscoll was born around 1796 in the area of Kinsale, Co. Cork. He was the son of John Driscoll and Joanna Hanley. I think the family farmed land (the Strand Farm) in Kilroan on the Old Head of Kinsale. Daniel married Mary Griffin in the parish of Courcey's Country in 1825. It appears that the family lived in the town of Kinsale. The family immigrated to Boston around the time of the famine. Daniel Driscoll became a citizen of the US in 1851. He appears to have been an officer in a militia regiment at the time of the Civil War although he did not serve for the US Army due to his age. He died in Boston in 1891.

Their children- Johanna, b. January 1826, married (Charles or James) McCarthy, Margaret, b. April 1829, married John Quinn, John b. 1832, died on the voyage to America, Mary, b. Dec. 1837, married John Leahy (my great grandparents) Annie, b. January 1842, married Thomas Bagley.
