Driscoll of Cork
Roll Call: Frank Driscoll

John Driscoll (1808-1848) and his wife, Julia Burke (1808?-1868) were born somewhere in County Cork. They were married around 1827, and their first son John (1828-?) (married Mary Spillane Apr/1856) was born in Ireland. Their next child, Mary-Anne (1830-?) (married John McGeehan) was born in Upper Canada. The rest of the children were born in Canada. They are as follows; Ellen (1836-?) (married??Porter), my great great grandfather Daniel (1840-1895) (married Bridget Roach {1850-1923} on 23/Nov/1869), Johanna(1841-?) (married Mathew Carrol), Michael (1845-?) and Dennis(1847-?).

My first information taken from the 1851 census for Eramosa Township in the county of Wellington, Province of Ontario, Canada, shows that they had purchased a farm there. This is near the present day city of Guelph.

By 1858 the family had moved up outside what is now the village of Athur, 24 miles from Guelph. Daniel started a milling business in Arthur in the 1870's. He had 4 children, Willy-John91872-1918) (married Eleanor Gainer in1895), Julia-anne(1871-1952) (married J. Hughes in Feb. of 1903), Joseph(1876-1942) (married Emma Johnson), and my grandfather Eugene(1877-1967) (married Theresa Stortz on July/11/1910). The present day descendants known to me of John Driscoll and Julia Burke live in Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, Washington State and Nevada.
