Teresa C Bell [email protected] 6714 HWY 71 S Cove, AR 71937 Smith I am trying to find out the last name of my greatgrandmother, and the date she married my great-grandfather, George William Smith (Mar 1880- ). Tinty (?)(15 Nov 1884- June 1967) first shows up on the 1900 Collin Co census prec. 3, done on the 13th of June. They must have just gotten married, as George shows up again on the 1900 Collin Co. census on the 12th of July in prec.1 living with his parents, Henry Harrison and Wealthy Ann Smith. George and Tinty are still living in Collin Co. in 1910, but moved to Bryan Co. OK by 1920. All of the census records I can find her on states that she and her parents were born in Kentucky. There are several different spellings of her name on the census records, Tynty, Tiny, though SSDI has Tinty. Also she may have been of Indian heritage. If any one has any info on this family, please contact me. Thank you Teresa Bell
Ed note: A trip to McKinney showed G W Smith married to P L Stephens 1 Nov 1899. I copied the record and will send it to you if you contact me. There was also another George William Smith who married Dollie Smith in 1909. In the 1910 census George and Tiny live next door to William Stephens, who I think is her brother, and his mother Polly A. In 1880 Polly and James are the parents of 6 children, ages 12 to 3 months (William) in Pulaski KY . According to the 1900 census Polly had 10 children.

Melissa Speed [email protected] 7576 Juliet Lane Fort Worth, TX 76137-1398 Bush, Chambers, Debow, Elkin, Harris Looking to make contact with descendants of & exchange records for Edward Chambers (1815-1887) & Elizabeth Debow (1818-1880) of Wilson Co, TN & Collin County. Also for Smallwood A. Elkin (1806-1865) & Lucinda G. Bush (1809-aft 1860) of Clarke Co, KY & Collin Co. Finally, seeking the gravesite locations for Smallwood A. & Lucinda Bush Elkin, William Fletcher Elkin (1829-1872), & Nancy Jane Elkin Harris (1862-aft. 1893) (w. of W.C. Harris) in Collin County.
Ed Note: As death certificates were not recorded until 1903 a trip to the McKinney courthouse did not yield information for any of these people, but I found a marriage record for WC Harris and NJ Elkin in 1878.

Wanda Porter [email protected] 127 Uhlan Ct., Chillicothe, OH 45601 Bowman George E. Bowman is first found in the Collin Co. census in 1870. I know he settled there with his family before 1870, possibly as early as 1856 in Verona. In 1870, he was in the Farmersville precinct. Is there any way, possibly through land records, to prove this? Any information will be greatly appreciated.
Ed note: I found no mention of George E Bowman anywhere in courthouse records, land or vital statistics. However I found George E (Sep 15 1824 - Mar 14 1876) and Mary A Bowman (July 18 1830 - Feb 2 1889) in Snow Hill Cemetery.

Barbara (Read) Wynn [email protected] PO Box 561 Canby, Oregon Before 1875 GARY after READHARPER I have sm. album that came from Tenn. to Collin co. about 1870 it has tin types of Barnes family, Bennett families and the family who the album belonged to - William Henry Gary. I am not sure if the Barnes and Bennetts were in Tenn. or Texas. Would like to share with those families. Read family came to Collin county 1874-75 George Washington Read, wife Mary and children live in Graybill. They came from Ky.
Ed note: your book was probably owned by WH Gary and H A Fergenson, who married in Collin county in 1871.

Armond Beaty [email protected] 3199 CR 1163 Brashear, Texas 75420 http://www.beatyfamilyresearch.com BRIAN My Grandmother MYRTLE RICHARDSON BRIAN lived around Farmersville between 1911 and 1920. She was washing clothes in a washtub that had a fire under it. Her clothes caught fire and she died from her injuries. Does anyone have any information on this incident or about MYRTLE or her husband TOM BRIAN?
Ed note: no death record in Collin county

Katie Madsen [email protected] 5100 Teddington Park Drive SPENCER I am looking for E. E. Spencer and wife, Victoria or Victory. They owned land in Dallas County and sold it in Feb 1872. They appear in Dallas City directory in 1873 and then I lose them. Im wondering if they moved to Collin County? I have not been able to find them in the every name 1880 census. Im thinking they might have died before 1880. Ive not done research in Collin County before. Any ideas on where to start would be helpful. I would like to stay within the years 1874-1879.
Ed note: I found no marriage or death records in Collin county. Death records were not kept until 1903.

Jane Gamon [email protected] 808 VZCR 3223 Wills Point, TX 75169 Harris, Dinwiddie Looking for an obit for George Overton Harris, Sr. who died 19 October 1932 in Collin county. Also looking for George Overton Harris, Jr., who would be an uncle to my late husband, James S. Keller, Jr. Thank you, Jane Keller Gamon.
Ed note: George is listed in the McKinney Courier 11/22/1932 p 1 and the McKinney Democrat 11/24/1932 p2. His death certificate says he was born 9/13/1884 and was married, probably to the informant, Clara. She says she didnt know his father, who was born in GA and that his mother was Terry E Harrell, b TX. There were three death certificates filed, all essentially the same. He was an accountant in Plano. He was buried in Big Springs Cemetery. Contact me and I will mail you the copy. The 1980 index of Big Springs that is in the Chronicles (Vol 20) does not list a Harris.

Mary Jackson [email protected] 7569 FM 903, Celeste, Texas 75423 www.geocities.com/familyperrin Perrin We are trying to find out what happen to Stahl Perrin (b. Feb 21, 1855) who died Jan. 13, 1875 in Farmersville. His father was Isaac Newton Perrin who was born in Kentucky and came to Lamar County around 1845. Isaac is listed as being a Peters Colonist (July 1845) but leaving before getting a land certificate (presumably moving to Lamar Co.) Stahl was the youngist of 7 sons. We are wondering why he was in Farmersville so far from Lamar Co. and where he is buried. His brother Christopher Columbus Perrin moved from Lamar Co. to Celeste sometime after June 1880. His uncle James Madison Perrin owned land in Hunt County around Celeste, but as far as we can tell never lived there, living instead in Lamar Co. until sometime in the 1850s when he moved to Franklin Co.
In the Quarterly indexes I noticed the name Perrin listed in 2002 and 2003 (I think). Could any of the quarterlies have information about Stahl? Also, William Perrin (b. 1800 Kentucky) who was a Peters Colonist that settled in Collin County in the Plano area is Stahls uncle (brother of Isaac and James Madison). Stahls short life and death is a mystery we hope to solve. Thank you for any help you might be able to give. Thanks also for your informative and interesting website!
Ed note: Celeste and Farmersville are about equal distance from Greenville. A trip to the courthouse yielded only marriage records for the sons of William Perrin. The Plano Book says that William and Dycea (Kerbey) Perrin established a home near Rowlett in Collin county, and that they had a daughter Mary Elizabeth, who married Dr John S Huffman, Jr. in 1848. Williams estate (Vol 22 &23 Chronicles has Probate files) lists Ellen Thomas, Catherine Parsons, Mary Huffman, Amanda D Thomas, Ann E Jackson, James S Perrin (m 1860 Delila E Roland), Abner B Perrin, Charles Perrin (m 1850 Mourning Finley; 1876 Lizzie Sims), Wm. Perrin (m 1857 Amanda Grant), and the minor heirs of George Perrin, (m 1850 Mary Ann Finley) deceased (who live in Wise county).

Laura Louise Abernathy Robinson [email protected] 905 Pryor Dr. West Memphis, AR 72301 Private website at myfamily.com Abernathy and Huebsch My great grandfather was born Cicero Egbert Lane to Alex and Martha Haning Lane in Howe, Grayson County, Texas. His mother died when he was an infant. He was raised as Bert Abernathy by the W.P. Abernathy family in Anna, Collin County, Texas. He married Maggie Irene Huebsch. Any info on this family would be appreciated. I have been looking for a specific date of birth on Maggie and their wedding date. I have been to the cemetery to visit Maggies grave. I am told Bert is buried there beside her.
Ed note: I found two possible marriages for W P Abernathy: to Lonella Nocholson in 1887 and William P Abernathy to Freda Abercrombie in 1931. I also found a marriage record for Bert Abernathy and Maggie Huebsch in 1911. Contact me and I will mail you the copy.

Nancy Jane Faulk [email protected] 2756 N. Fm 312 Winnsboro, Texas 75494 Coffman, Cook, White, Reynolds I am looking for the obit. of A. Brooks Coffman, he died in Dallas, Texas. But his family lived in Josephine, Tx. So I was hoping there would be one some where in Collin Co. He died Nov. 20, 1939. He was shot to death in down town Dallas. He was a lawyer there, as was his father. I love your web site. I read the newsletter every time we get it at the Wood County Gen. club. Thanks so much. Nancy
Ed note: The McKinney Courier recorded Brooks death 11/21/1939 p 1.

Jody B Hughes, 1040 Armstrong Mill Rd Apt D, Lexington KY 40517-3145 Philips Need the burial place of Earl W Philips. Local funeral homes dont have any information for him or for his wife. Death Certificate days he was buried at Cottage Hill Cemetery. His wife Emogene McDonald Philips Flannery (remarried after his death) died, I believe, on July 1 2003 and may be buried with him. I dont have her obituary.
Ed note: Sherman Democrat Obituaries Jan 14 1987 say Harrington Bratcher Dickey in Celina held services Jan 15 1987. The Cottage Hill Cemetery book does list him. (It is available from Gayle Maxson).
