Rosalie Vance, and McCrary I need to find out more about the Mary McCrary, age 75, living with John Vance and his wife Martha on the 1850 census in Collins county. I believe that Martha was a McCrary. Where did Mary die, and where is North Carolina was she born. I also need to find out which McCrary she was married too. Any help would be appreciated. ed note: I found no record of Mary McCrary/McCreary in Collin County other than in the 1850 census, near Plano/ Murphy. There is no headstone for her. However, I found the family, John, Martha, etc, and Mary in the 1860 census in Rockwall, Kaufman county.

Memory Lane (a private site at myfamily.com) Surnames in Collin County? Abernathy (actually Lane) and Huebsch Comments: THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR THE WORK YOU DO. I SEARCH THE SITE FOR NEW INFORMATION AS OFTEN AS POSSIBLE. HERE IS MY FAMILY STORY. MY G-GRANDFATHER WAS CICERO EGBERT "BERT" ABERNATHY. HE WAS BORN IN OR AROUND HOWE, GRAYSON COUNTY, AND AFTER THE DEATH OF HIS MOTHER AT AN EARLY AGE, HE WAS RAISED BY W.P. ABERNATHY FAMILY IN OR AROUND ANNA, COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS. HE MARRIED MAGGIE IRENE HUEBSCH, WHO DIED AT THE AGE OF 25 WHEN MY GRANDFATHER WAS 7 YEARS OLD. MY GRANDFATHER AND HIS SIBLINGS WERE RAISED FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME BY A STEPMOTHER AND THEN LATER RELOCATED TO SOUTH TEXAS WHERE THEY WERE RAISED BY THEIR MATERNAL GRANDPARENTS. I HAVE BEEN TO THE CEMETERY WHERE MAGGIE IS BURRIED. I AM TOLD THAT BERT IS BURIED THERE WITH HER BUT THERE IS NO HEADSTONE TO CONFIRM THIS. I AM CURIOUS ABOUT HOW THE ABERNATHY FAMILY ENDED UP ACQUIRING BERT AND ANY DETAILS OF THEIR LIFE IN COLLIN COUNTY.

They went to MO where Mr Smart appears to have died as she is married to Martin Epps and has her children, Reuben, Nancy, and Joseph Smart with her. The Smart/Epps family went to Plano, Collin Co. by 1866 as I have viewed lists showing Martin Epps Proforming marriages ( he was a minister) in that year and Reuben Smart was married to Jemina Adeline Phillips in 1868. I also need anything on her parents and siblings, or any other information that may be available for the three above named families. Robert Chancellor 4702 E. McKinley St., Phoenix, AZ 85008 Hunter, Baxter, Gilbert John A. Hunter, Comina (or Cormena) Kinzer - Greene Co., TN to Collin Co, TX Looking for ancestors of John A. Hunter, born in approximately 1813/1814 in Tennessee. He was married to a woman named Comina (one source gives her maiden name as Comina Knicer). Other sources give her maiden name as Kinzer. The 1850 Greene County Tennessee census is the only census to show her name as Cormena instead of Comina. All subsequent censuses in which I have found them (1860, 1870 and 1880 Collin County, Texas censuses) show her name as Comina. John and Comina had 11 children of which I know. The 1850 census for Greene County, TN lists their children as: Catherine, Martha, Francis (male), Thomas E., LaFayette, Eliza J. and James P. Ten years later they are listed in the 1860 Collin County, Texas census as: John Hunter - age 47 - male - born in Tennessee Comina - age 44 - female - born in Tennessee Martha - age 22 - female - born in Tennessee Francis M. - age 21 - male - born in Tennessee Thomas - age 19 - male - born in Tennessee (Benjamin) Lafayette - age 17 - male - born in Tennessee Eliza J. (Jane) - age 12 - female - born in Tennessee James - age 9 - male- born in Tennessee Mary A. - age 8 - female - born in Tennessee John R. (Rufus) - age 7 - male - born in Texas Harriett - age 2 - female - born in Texas John and Comina and the children still living with them also appear in the 1870 and 1880 censuses for Collin County, Texas. By this time, they had had another son: Samuel Hunter, born about 1863 in Texas. From the information above, John Hunter and his wife Comina must have moved from Tennessee to Collin County, Texas in about 1852/1853. I know that one son, Benjamin Lafayette Hunter, was a Presbyterian minister. One daughter, Eliza Jane Hunter, became the second wife of Elijah Baxter. If any of this coincides with anyone's own family tree, please contact me. I would be very grateful to learn if anyone knows John Hunter's parents or his wife Comina Kinzer's parents. I will share whatever information I have.
