The Democratic Congressional convention of the fourth Congressional district, was held at the Court House here Saturday afternoon, for the purpose of nominating Congressman C. B. RANDELL to succeed himself in Congress from this district nd for adopting a platform.
John K. WILSON, of Princeton, came over to the county capitol Tuesday.
Ira L. STANLEY for several years foreman of the Dallas Times-Herald hs purchased the Plano Star-Courier from J. J. RUSSELL and J. T. HORN.
E. W. KIRKPATRICK, the horticulturist of McKinney, was nominated at Dallas as candidate for Governor on the Independence ticket.

Raymond KILLINGSWORTH, having finished a course in the Metropolitan business College of Dallas has accepted a position with the Allen State Bank.

Mrs. Mary S. MARTIN, of Gainesville is visiting relatives here.
J. E. SCRIBNER and Mirs. LANGSTON visited relatives here Saturday and Sunday..
R. C. and Jim MERRITT are having a house erected on their mother�s farm near here.
Mr. Matt GILES of Missouri, visited his uncle, Josiah NICHOLS, last week. He once lived here for twelve months about thirty-eight years ago and then moved to Missouri and had not returned until now.
J. W. SCRIBNER made a business trip to McKinney Monday.
Miss Jennie AIRHEART returned to Peniel today after visiting here three weeks.
J.M. MOORE is preparing to move to C. HENDRIX�s farm near Wooddale.
C. G. MORROW is to move to the farm of J. V. AIRHEART to pick cotton right away.
Rock Hill:
Mr. PONDER who has been to Tennessee, to visit his aged mother, has returned and reports a fine time.
Mrs. ROSS of Purcell, Okla., and her little daughter are visiting Mrs. ROSS� mother, Mrs. Jake LEMPLIN. Also Miss Ida LEMPLIN from Denton is visiting for a few days.
Mr. and Mrs. BORUM attended the ice cream supper at Bloomdale last Friday night. They are to teach at that place next session.
Mr. Will KRANTZ is making everything hum around fixing up to have a bale of cotton a day picked. Says he is mightly tired of nothing to jingle in his pockets and make his creditors feel good.

Bob IRBY and family, of Irving visited Jeff SHADDIX and wife last Thursday night.
Mr. DENSMORE of Ellis, Texas who has rented from Mr. LAFON for another year, has moved to our community.
T. C. OAKLEY and daughter, Miss Vera of Nolan, Texas, Nolan county, visited relatives at this place. Mr. OAKLEY formerly resided at this place but purchased land in Nolan county some three years ago.

Prof. REED of Ft. Worth formerly President of Hawthorne College at McKinney .....will be Superintendent of the Celina High School this year.

Mrs. Jno. STALLCUP, Miss Belle KELLEY and Dr. Walter STALLCUP left yesterday for Mineral Wells.
Mr. R. SHIPMAN living two miles west of town happened to the misfortune of getting his home destroyed by fire Saturday morning.

Mrs. O. L. TUCKER went to McKinney this morning to visit her sister Mrs. PARDUE. This is Mrs. TUCKER�s first visit to that city since she moved to Sherman six years ago.
J. T. CLOWER of Houston, has returned after a visit to his son, R. S. CLOWER and family.
Will MONROE and wife were in McKinney Tuesday and informed us that a Methodist meeting will commence at Wilson Chapel next Sunday.
There is quite a lot of fishing sport at Club Lake recently. The latest is a 11 3/4 pound catfish caught by Dr. BURTON and Morris STIFF. Those in the party were Dr. and Mrs. E. L. BURTON, Mrs. J. D. STIFF and son and Miss Mary LOVE.
Eld. Hugh McCLELLAN of McKinney came up from Celina yesterday afternoon and went to Sherman.
The residence part of the jail upstairs and down stairs has been overhauled, cleaned, painted and papered and Sheriff EUBANKS and his family have moved therein. Mr. EUBANKS has just arrived from Crowell where he had gone on business. He reports Tom and Joe BEVERLY doing nicely and all other Collin county people out there well pleased.
Rev. RIEVES, pastor of the First Presbyterian church here has returned from Forney where he held a successful revival.
The little seven year old daughter of Robert WOODS at Blue Ridge died Friday evening at the home of its grandfather, Jas. BROOKINS. She had suffered untold agony for two weeks with throat trouble.
Wms. WARDEN left Tuesday evening for Denison where he will visit his daughter, Mrs. Will BRISTOL and family until Wednesday when he will proceed to Oklahoma City accompnaied by his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Todd WARDEN. Miss Eloise BRISTOL who has been visiting relatives here returned to her home at Denison with Mr. WARDEN.
Rev. J. B. GOBER and daughter, Miss Jim, have returned from Bennington and Durant.
Dr. E. I .[L?] BURTON is visiting his parents at Bells.
Tog CHANDLER captured a large centipede at his home west of McKinney a few days ago. It was discovered by his little son, Grady, who came very near being bitten by the poisonous insect [sic] which was one of the largest of its kind.
D. C. GEORGE and his two little sons, Masters Mack and Tom were in McKinney Wednesday.
Oscar DOBBS of Altoga was hurt in a runaway at Altoga a few days ago. He was thrown against a fence and the buggy was badly damaged.
