Letter from S. E. Collin Near Nevada. ... Our section is on a building boom. Mr. James DAVIS, John STINEBAUGH, Rowland GOOCH, and E. J. WHITE, Sr., are all having good and substantial dwellings built. --- Many speak of attending the reunion in McKinney. --- Mr. William BELEW has just returned from out west. --- Mr. John McMINN, Sr., was hauling posts on yesterday morning when he accidently [sic]fell off his wagon and was badly hurt by the wheels passing over his body. --- On the 23d, Miss Emmie PHILLIPS died of typhoid fever. --- Mr. D. M. Stimson’s little daughter has been very sick for two weeks with brain fever.
Serious Accident. Last Sunday...Francis EMERSON, while out driving in his buggy had his feet to become entangled in the wheel while dismounting and was thrown upon his shoulder, breaking the cap, giving him a very painful wound. He is, and will be disabled for sometime, but is now doing very well.
Horse Stealing. Four good horses were taken from John P. HUNTER, two from Mr. PHILLIPS, and two from the HOUSTON farm in the near vicinity.
Open Cotton. R. C. STRICKLAND brought to this office, on Monday last a boll of fully matured open cotton...
[Ex-Confederate] Re-Union Notes. To the members of GANO’s Brigade: We urge all of you to come to the re-union and let us march together for the first time since we surrendered in 1865. [Signed] F. M. MISCELLANEOUS ARTICLES and NOTICES
[Included for historical interest.] Grand Re-Union. Tremendous gathering of Ex-Confederates, Ex-Federals, Texas Pioneers and People Generally. On Tuesday morning, the date set for the re-union at this place, the weather was most unfavored, a hard shower falling in the morning and threatening more rain during the entire day. Nevertheless, train load after train load of veterans came in on both railroads, and wagons from every direction approached the rendezvous. By 9 o’clock the vast conclave made its way to the grounds, half mile east of the city. It is estimated there were from 8,ooo to 10,000 people on the grounds, and probably twice that number on Wednesday. On the second day there was not less than 15,000 people present, the day being spent in speech-making, mutual recognitions and organizations of the different commands.

Jasper HAND left last Tuesday for Walla Walla, Washington Territy [sic] where he will remove his family if the country suits him.
Two young bloods, named HARRINGTON and REDDY, from near Lebown [Lebanon ?] were arrested last Saturday and put in the cooler for rapid riding on the streets.
DEATHS
On Saturday night last, an old negro named Jeff BAKER was run over and killed by the north-bound passenger train. The engineer discovered him when within about thirty yards of him, lying across the track.

A difficulty occurred on last Saturday night between T. E. BOMAR, editor of the Black Waxey, and man named KIMBALL in which the latter received a slight knife wound in the breast and the former some severe bruises.

MISCELLANEOUS ARTICLES and NOTICES
[Included for historical interest.] Andrew THOMAS is the oldest settler now living in Grayson county and is the first man who ever attempted to establish a home within the present territory of the county. Forty-one years ago he settled on Choctaw, when the nearest settlement was a little blockhouse eleven miles away, and in a fight with Indians had a brother killed and a son wounded. He took the wounded boy on his back and making a running fight carried him safely into the blockhouse by a circuitous route of about fifteen miles and saved his life.
Probate Notice. To all persons interested in the Estate of H. H. TUCKER, Deceased: Notice is hereby given that J. M. TUCKER, Administrator of the Estate has filed his final account.
First Bale of Cotton. On August 20th, 1883 the first bale of new cotton was brought to this place ..... by J. E. STEVENSON about three miles northeast of McKinney. It sold for 11.05. Dudley HEARD was the purchases. The bale was ginned by D. F. GERRISH.
J. H. DOMAN bought the first bale from Denton county, sold on our [McKinney] streets this week.
J. E. CAMERON has purchased the interest of Gabe BECK, in the livery stable business.
Capt. R. M. BOARD returned this week from the east.
Dr. MARKHAM left this week for a jaunt in the hills of Kentucky.
Maj. SMITH has about completed the addition to the Odd Fellows Hall and it will be filled with goods by Mr. ARON in a day or two.
Messrs. MINER & CLEMENTSON have purchased the stock of A. & W. HUNSTABLE and will continue the Boot and Shoe business at the same stand.
MARRIAGES
Col. Ed CHAMBERS was selected by the good people of Collin county to represent them in the 18th legislature. He was a single man when he came to Austin. Yesterday, ....he went to lead Mrs. E. O. TIBAULT to the hymenal alter. The wedding took place at 2:30 p.m. at the home of the bride.

[Historical Interest]. The poles for the telephone have been placed in position from Dallas and Sherman to this city [McKinney] and ere long we will be talking to people thirty miles distant.
Bethel NEWSOM was thrown from a mule, on Sunday night last, against a barbed wife fence, and considerably scratched.
MARRIAGES
Our townsman, C. D. BATES, was married last week to a Miss HARRIS of Lebanon, Tennessee.
DEATHS
Little Lit, infant son of J. P. BURTON, died on Wednesday last.

Wm. COULSON was fined $100 in the county court this week for libel.
Mr BURGER, in trying to stop a runaway team, on Tuesday last, was run over and seriously hurt.
Judge MALTBIE went to Sherman Monday morning to commence court at that place.
CHURCH NEWS
Elder Clark is conducting a series of meetings at the Christian church. He is an able speaker.
The protracted meeting at the Methodist church closed on Sunday night last.
SCHOOL NEWS
The public free schools of Sherman opened Monday with an attendance of 250 pupils.

[Historical Interest.] The telephone is finished up in full, and we can now talk to a person in Dallas or Sherman as same as if they were in McKinney.
Ben. T. ESTES is now with Ed. MOORE, Sherman, dry goods, clothing boots, shoes, where he will be pleased to meet his old Collin county friends when in that city.
Serious Accident. On Friday morning last a man by the name of James becoming entangled in the belting at W. C. BURRIS’ gin and at this writing has been unconscious half an hour or more. He is thought to be mortally injured.
During the rain last Saturday G. R. HOWELL’s residence was struck by lightning.
Willie STOVALL left yesterday for Thorp Springs to attend school.
Tommie HARRIS, we are glad to say, is improving, and it is hoped he will be up again soon.
It is ridiculous, the way the boys about town tantalize and treat old uncle Dick FIELDS. The officers should put a stop to it.
Miss Blanche STIFF has been tendered the position of telephone operator at this place.

DEATHS
Plano. Sept. 18. Mrs. Belle BUTLER, wife of Dr. L. BUTLER, died at his residence last night from consumption. The funeral took place at four o’clock this evening, and her remains were followed to the cemetery by a large concourse of friends, who sadly mourn her loss. Dr. BUTLER has the sympathy of the whole community.

Mr. HOLLINGSWORTH, a white man living between Denison and Sherman, has sold a half interest in his gin and mill to his neighbor LUCKEY, a colored man. This is rather off color for a matched team, but they may work well together.
The Greenville Banner has made fun of one of our oyster dealers [because of] his funny name. Mr. GUTGESELLE most cordially invites the editor of the Banner over to indulge in a dozen fresh oysters, and promises to have his name removed and everything else that is calculated to turn the stomach of our worthy co-temporary.

Jimmie DeVALT, after an absence of several months, has returned to our city.
Capt. W. N. BUSH returned last week from the Louisville Exposition. He reports having a splendid trip.
After an unsuccessful search for a week or more, Bud NEWMAN’s pony was returned to him on Monday last, without a scratch or blemish.
Mr. John HAMILTON’s child, after a severe illness, we are glad to state is improving.
A wolf entered the yard of Billy MACK last week and devoured sixteen chickens, after which Billy disposed with [sic] him with a shot gun.

We learn that some scoundrel tried to effect an entrance into the residence of Billy BARNES, on last Saturday night.
Mr. Lou MOORE, is proud over the arrival of a nine pound boy at his house on Tuesday morning last.
DEATHS
The little daughter of Mr. J. H. DOMAN, died Thursday night, last. The family have our sincerest sympathy in their bereavement.
John R. CRO?IER of Lebanon, this county, died at his residence on 5th inst. of Typhoid Fever.
We understand that Mr. J. C. RHEA has the misfortune this week to lose two of his children.

Prairie Near Nevada [Collin Co.]. Mr. C. C. DAUGHERTY and W. E. JONES, near Millwood, are building good and substantial dwellings. --- The best picking of cotton that has been done this fall was picked by Thomas M. BRIDE and a Mr. MORGAN in two days. They picked 1,680 pounds. --- Next best by Mack and Edward PHILLIPS in one day, 802 pounds. --- Next best was a little 8 year old boy, Otis FRAZIER, who picked 202 pounds in one day. --- No weddings recently, too busy a time to marry, I reckon.

I. D. NEWSOME and family returned from a three month’s trip to California and Pacific states.
The New Buildings. SHAIN’s opera house is complete so far as the brick work is concerned --- The house of Mr. BOWER is occupied. --- the rooms of Mr. BATES and Mr. SEAY are fast approaching completion. --- The handsome block of John JOHNSON is progressing steadily. --- The building of Mrs. SIMS has been constructed rapidly. --- The Enquirer building is in the hands of the carpenters.

F. M. THOMPSON returned from Western Texas on Thursday last, where he had been looking after
some land sales.
Judge W. H. ANDREWS returned this week from a trip to Toronto, Canada, where he has been as a delegate to the North American Bee Convention.

SCHOOL NEWS
Office of the McKinney Academy Association. The legally organized system of public schools is now radically different from the system at the time of the organization of the Association in 1870. The young, vigorous, enterprising and energetic officers of the city are anxious and willing to make the public schools of the city what the citizens .... desire. Stock shares in the Association have therefore.... been transferred to the City of McKinney for the purposes of education. [Those] transferring shares are: I. F. GRAVES, E. R. STIFF, R. R. CARR, T. Struck by Lightning. During the shower of rain last Wednesday morning the residence of W. B. LARGENT, near the Academy was struck by lightning and the roof considerably shattered. The family were all more or less shocked.
Another Gin Accident. Anderson DUPREE, colored, had his hand caught in Burris’ gin last Monday and Horribly lacerated, so much so that he will probably lose it. This is the second time this season he has been hurt by the gin.
Spider Bites. These poisonous little insects this week have bitten two of our citizens, and in each instance caused great suffering and fear of death. Mrs. INGRAM, wife of the machinist, was bitten a few days since, and at one time serious fears were entertained for her life. Capt. W. A. RHEA was also bitten, and he says his suffering were greater than when his foot was amputated. Both are now well, and probably would have suffered very little had precaution been taken and remedies used in time.

[ Historical Interest.] An Old Landmark. The old building opposite the jail has been torn down to make lot room for the business block of Jno. Johnson. Many old citizens remember this [building] calling to memory the good old times .... eating dinner there 27 years ago when Capt. MADDEN was the Boniface and Hetty presided over the cooking department. It was then known as the Wild Cat Tavern and boasted of being the best hostlery in North Texas. So the world goes. This was probably the oldest building in the city and while it had, for a long time, been a nuisance there are many who cherish fond recollections of the musty past...
G. N. WADE has purchased the right to manufacture Gallup’s Artificial Stone in this county.
P. TURBIT will open a wholesale liquor house in one of the new bricks on the East side as soon as completed.
F. GUTGESELLE has opened and will continue in operation, a first class Restaurant, at his old stand on West Louisiana Street, where he will supply any kind of edible to be had in the market.
DEATHS
Denton, Oct. 11. Judge C. C. SCRUGGS, who had his arm injured in a gin a few days ago, died about 1 o’clock this afternoon.

Gov. THROCKMORTON, I. D. NEWSOME and Dr. FOOTE, went on a deer hunt a few days since and brought in two fine ones. It is hard to tell who killed them as all claim that credit.
Lost. On the evening of Doris’ circus, on road to Millwood, between Union Mill and Abe ENLOE’s, a leather purse containing money and papers. The finder will receive $10 reward for leaving above at McAULAY’s drug store.
DEATHS
Obituary. Death of Col. Wm. FITZHUGH. We are truly pained to record the sudden and unexpected death of this old and well known citizen of our county which occurred on last Tuesday evening, the circumstances of which we learn are about as follows. Toward the close of the day, he had started home from town in a two-horse wagon, and when near the culvert on the Central road, under which the county road passes, his horses took fright and becoming unmanageable, ran against the timber of the culvert, throwing him out of the wagon against the frame work of the culvert, injuring him to such an extent that he died in a few minutes. He was carried to the residence of his son-in-law, John W. MOORE, from where his remains were followed to the grave by his many friends.
Col. FITZHUGH was an early pioneer of Collin county, coming here with his father, the late John FITZHUGH when this section was infested by the Indians and participated in the struggles and trials that beset the early settler. He was ever ready to do his part, and more, no matter how dangerous or how burdensome, and was known from Red River to the Rio Grande as a scout and Indian fighter. Since the war he has been elected a number of times as an officer in the Texas Legislature, and was extremely popular with all who knew him. He carried beneath a rough exterior as warm and generous a heart as ever beat inhuman breast. Peace to his ashes.
Homicide at Blue Ridge. Last Saturday at Blue Ridge, John FERGUSON was shot and killed by Robt. KERR. They were brothers-in-law, KERR having married FERGUSON’s sister from whom he had separated, charging her with immoral conduct. This was resented by FERGUSON, and bad blood had existed for some time. KERR is now in jail at this place.
Died. Columbus JONES, brother of M. M. C. JONES, after a long spell of sickness, departed this life, Oct. 23d, 1883. He leaves many friends and relatives to mourn his loss. He confessed of being well prepared and perfectly satisfied to leave this land of trials and troubles to join the angels in Heaven. [Signed] A Friend.

Big Potato. M. W. WILMETH has brought to our office, a sweet potato, raised by Miss Mollie PAFFORD, which weighs eight pounds. If any one will bring a larger one we will agree to eat it.
A young man named TAYLOR, was thrown from his horse near Plano on Tuesday last and severely injured.
Residence Burned. We regret to chronicle the destruction by fire, on Tuesday of the fine new residence of Dr. RUBOTTOM, in the vicinity of RHEA’s Mills. The house was a very commodious and handsome structure, nearly completed.
W. C. CAMPBELL, living near Plano, was thrown from his wagon this week, and badly hurt.
Col. Ed. GREGG, of Sherman, was in the city on Wednesday last, shaking hands with his old-time friends.
Major E. WHITELY left last Thursday for a trip to Belknap, and the frontier country.
The last meeting of the Literary Society was quite a success, in the way of pleasure. The following is the programme for Monday, Nove. 3: Essay – J. H. ALLEN; Declamation -- Jno. Mrs. Gyon BARTHOLOMEW, one of the oldest ladies in Grayson county died at the home of her husband, near Whitesboro, Saturday night and was buried Sunday. Mr. BARTHOLOMEW is a pioneer Texas.

DEATHS
Sudden Death. Our people were startled on Friday morning to hear of the death of F. M. BALL, senior of the firm of F. M. BALL & Co. The day before he had been at his business as usual, and made no complaints .... About 12 o’clock Thursday night he was taken suddenly ill and a physician was sent for, but by the time he arrived, the patient had breathed his last. Mr. BALL came from Mississippi to Texas, stopping at Greenville for a time, and coming to McKinney some two months since.

Last Tuesday in the neighborhood of Farmersville, a man named BUCKINGHAM shot and fatally wounded a man named MURPHY, who lives in Greenville, for an alleged insult to the former’s wife. Latest reports are that MURPHY can not recover.
Captain A. H. SHOEMAKER, of Decatur was on a visit to McKinney this week. He is an old pioneer of this county, and always receives a cordial welcome when he comes to his “old stamping ground.”
Black Mammoth Jack For Sale. A splendid animal at a reasonable price. Call and see him, 1 ½ miles east of Blue Ridge. G. W. MCCURLY.
Van Alstyne trots out a nimble old colored man named Frank Welch HIGON, who was born in 1772, and who is consequently 111 years old. He is now enjoying fine health and has made a regular hand at the plow this year and is now picking from 45 to 65 pounds of cotton per day.
Jasper EICHES, living near Sherman.. seventy years of age, divided his property among his children and they then failed to take care of him. He has “gone over the hill to the poor house”.
R. B. TONCHTON of Denison, was recently drowned while attempting to ford Red river on
horseback.
COLLIN COUNTY ESTRAYS

BUCKINGHAM, who shot MURPHY near Farmersville, was released this week from arrest.
Mrs. ALLISON, after a residence of several years in Tennessee, returned to McKinney last week, and will remain among her children for a time at least.
Lost. On the day of the circus J. A. MASSIE lost his pocket-book, containing some $35 in money, and a lot of valuable papers. He does not want the money, but desires the return of the papers. No questions asked.
We were glad to recieve [sic] a call from Dr. CARTY, of Denton, and Maj. WILEY of Alabama. They are in McKinney on a visit to relatives, and we wish them a pleasant sojourn.
Misses Allie BLACK and Mary KENNEDY, of Weston, have been visiting friends in the city this week.
CHURCH NEWS
A total sum of $1,500 has been received from Major PENN’s nickel Baptist church. Of this sum $300 was paid for the lot, $900 for the foundation and walls so far, and $300 is still on hand.
MARRIAGES
Married. At Forrest Home, Tennessee, November 15th, Dr. W. C. McAULAY and Miss Annie Laurie BAIRD. The doctor and his handsome young bride arrived at their Texas home last week, and were tendered a right royal welcome by their friends.

Pleasant EVANS, a farmer, late of Collin, but now of Parker county, while under the influence of strong drink, essayed to sit on the court-house yard fence yesterday, when he lost his balance and falling backwards on his head, came very near breaking his neck. Medical aid was summoned and he was, after some two hours.... sufficiently recovered to be lifted into a wagon.

Land for Sale. One hundred and thirteen and on-half acres of good prairie land, known as the HERRING tract, in the G. W. DANIEL survey, in Collin county, situated eight miles north of Vanalstyne [sic]. Address L. D. LILLARD, Fairfield, Texas.
Greenville. Wednesday a dark cloud ...accompanied with a hard wind and rain. The house of Mr. T. PULLEN, in the western part of town, and the barn of Mr. John SAMONDS, two miles south of town, was blown down. Mr. W. H. KING’s barn and a tenant house on Colonel Sam DAVIS’ place were blown down.
A man named A. A. NICHOLSON was arrested in town this week and taken to Young county on a charge of cattle stealing.
Mr. And Mrs. Jesse SHAIN will celebrate the twelfth anniversary of their marriage by a reception at the Opera House on Friday night.
We hear of many new arrivals in our city in the past week or two. SKIDMORE and J. M. TODD, both have been in luck, both boys are said to weigh ten pounds each.
There was a social party and dance given to the young people of McKinney, at the residence of Mr. G. T. ARMSTRONG, on Tuesday night last.
CHURCH NEWS
December 4th, 1883 .... the ladies of the Presbyterian church will give a superb [sic] supper in the Morrow Block in order to raise funds to assist in paying for their parsonage. Supper 50 cts; oysters extra.
DEATHS
Pleasant Evans, of this county, who fell of the court-house fence in Dallas, last Friday, died from his injuries.

The people of Grayson county will vote on December 22 as to whether hogs, sheep and goats shall longer be permitted to run at large.

On Wednesday a workman whose name we learn is LAKE, while carrying some lumber up into SHAIN’s opera house fell against the glass door of SEAY & SEAY, and breaking the glass cut his arm severely. He was taken to Dr. McAULAY's drug store, and his wounds dressed.
Dick FIELD, who is in an unsound state of mind, while tearing down a shed near the depot Wednesday night, let some of the timbers fall upon his leg, breaking it near the ankle.
Frank GUTGESELL is fitting up the room formerly occupied by Dr. McAULAY and will remove his restaurant in a few days.
Wild and Wooley. Deputies WORDEN and HOSKINS went to Amsterdam to arrest a man upon complaint. He tore up the warrant and gave the officers a lively tussel, but they finally landed him in jail. He gave the name of F. M. McINTYRE. He is supposed to be wanted in eastern Texas.
William BURRIS, of Denton wants to hear from his seventeen year old son, of the same name, who ran away from home recently.
S. A. SNEED, of Fairfield, killed a balk eagle, measuring eight feet from tip to tip of its wings, and an alligator weighing 300 pounds was killed by another in the party.
DEATHS
Obituary. On the morning of the 12th of November, the spirit of Mr. Will N. WALLIS, escaping from the narrow confines of his mortal body, took its flight across the dark waters of the River of Death, into the Land of the Great Unknown. He was born August 24, 1848 and for many years lived in the vicinity of McKinney...... but last year went to Dallas where the cold hand of Death came and took him to his long and better home. Always, even in his youth, moral, upright, and honest, he professed religion in August 1870 at the early age of 22 and has since remained a devout and conscientious Christian. Collin county has lost a good and worthy citizen.

MISCELLANEOUS ARTICLES and NOTICES
Fence Cutting. We had hoped this vicious phase of lawlessness would not reach Collin county, but learn that it has commenced in the southern portion of the county. ....the fence enclosing the pasture of Messrs. OGLESBY & FOWLER, was cut for two or three miles. There seems to be no possible motive but malice in this move, as gates are liberally provided, and where the fence was cut a traveled road runs along the whole length.

John BURGER, living in the neighborhood of Celina, took from his tank this week, a two year old carp fish, weighing nine and three-fourth pounds.
We see.... that a street railroad company for McKinney, has been chartered. We are told that Messrs. SHAIN, SWAN, GARNETT and MUSE form the company.
Maj. E. WHITELY returned last week from an extended trip to the Western country.
J. S. HELMS was seriously injured in an affray with John CALLAHAN at Weston, a few days
since. Mr. HELMS received severe bruises on the face, his nose being broken. Reports represent him as not getting along well with his wounds.

On Wednesday evening last the gin of Mr. MULKEY, in the vicinity of Celina, was destroyed by fire, together with a lot of seed cotton. Mr. MULKEY was in the press box at the time and before he could get out the flames had spread to such an extent that his clothes took fire, being covered with lint.
The entire pasture of Mr. W. E. WASHINGTON of Gainesville, which is located in the Chickasaw nation, was burned last week and the buildings narrowly escaped destruction.
COLLIN COUNTY ESTRAYS
Wm. DUNCAN had a fine mare stolen from his lot Tuesday night, and in her stead an old, broken down horse was left.

MISCELLANEOUS ARTICLES and NOTICES
Hon. Ed. CHAMBERS was in the city this week, greeting his many friends.
Fire Alarm. Wednesday night last, the alarm of fire was given, caused by the roof of George WATT’s butcher shop taking fire from the stove pipe. What at one time threatened a serious conflagration, was nipped in the start by the prompt action of Dee HOSKINS and Charley NEWTON, who found their way to the roof and extinguished the fire.
P. R. JORDON, of Farmersville, was in the city on Thursday, on route for the West.
Jim WOOD, colored, killed a hog last Saturday, which weighted 480 pounds. This is the best pig we have heard of being killed this season.
W. B. NEWSOME and wife, celebrated the Tenth Anniversary of their marriage this week.
Billy STRAUGHAN is the boss duck hunter of the season, having killed 130 ducks and one deer in a two days hunt on Pilot Grove creek.
John ERWIN, formerly of McKinney is said to have been the companion of Warren in the attempt to rob Fielding and Wright, and who made his escape. He lived here for some time and bore a good character previous to this occurrence.
Sheriff WARDEN left for Baton Rouge this week, to bring back the parties who robbed SEAY & SEAY’s book store.
APPELLATE COURT
In the case of the State vs. KEELER, convicted of forgery in this county and appealed, the Appellate Court complimented the County Attorney, W. T. BEVERLY, very highly for the manner in which he conducted the case.
CHURCH NEWS
MARRIAGES
At an early hour last evening St. Matthew’s Cathedral was literally filled to overflowing to witness the marriage of Mr. John T. BERRY, a popular young business man of this city, to Miss Fannie, the very handsome and attractive daughter of Dr. And Mrs. J. W. CROWDUS. The above is from the Dallas Herald of the 19th inst. We tender congratulations to our young friend and wish him and his bride the choicest of blessings.
Married. At Denison, Dec. 20th, Hon. Richard MALTBIE of Collin and Miss Lizzie SIMPSON of Grayson. The happy couple were aboard the south-bound train on a short bridal tour to Galveston and other Gulf cities. We congratulate our friend upon securing for life’s voyage, so beautiful and amiable a companion; and wish for them all the joy and happiness known to connubial bliss.
Last Tuesday was a gay day among the young people of the city, the occasion being the marriage of Mr. NORVEIL, and Miss Josie HARRIS, of this city. They left on the afternoon south bound train.
Public. Christmas Tree at SHINN’s Opera House, Monday 24th December, 1883. The committee chosen to superintend the Christmas Tree, met at Mrs. Jesse SHAIN’s residence. Mrs. SHAIN was chosen as chairman, and F. M. DAVIDSON as assistant chairman. Mrs. G. G. HOUSTON chosen as secretary. ....Mr. J. W. HAMILTON was selected to procure the necessary trees for the occasion. The following committees were appointed to officiate on this occasion. As callers of presents --- Maj. J. A. BUCK, Wms. DEATHS
The little two-year-old son of Rev. H. R. RAYMOND, died of what was supposed to be scarlet fever, on Monday night, last. The parents, who are comparative strangers in our midst, have the heartfelt sympathy of all in their bereavement.
Mr. Jonas W. WILLIAMS, one of the first settlers of Hunt County, died at Wolf city on the 16th inst. He was a useful man and a good citizen, and his many friends will regret to learn that he has bidden them a final farewell.
