EDWARD HARRIS wills to his son Jonathan Harris a tract of land on
west side of west prong of Newlight creek adjoining his still house
and lands of Jeremiah Bailey, Robert Allen, and Joseph Bridges, a cow
and 2 yearlings, a feather bed and furniture, blacksmith's tools, and
1/2 of my carpenter's tools; to son Elijah Harris, land adjoining
that above given my son Jonathan, Jeremiah Bailey's, Thos.
Winningham's and that I am giving my wife for her use during her
lifetime, a gun, a cow and yearling and 1/2 of my carpenter's tools;
to daughter Anne Upchurch, 5 shillings; to daughter Fanny Jackson, 5
shillings; to daughter Mary Bailey, 5 shillings; to daughter Martha
Bailey, 5 shillings and a negro man slave; to wife Priscilla, a negro
man slave for her life and, at her death, to Edward, son of my son
Elijah Harris; to wife, all furniture, stock, tools and land whereon
I live (excepting that given away herein) for her lifetime.

Betsey Jones, 7 negroes, an 8 gallon still, walnut desk forever; the
490 acre tract on Reedy Creek, the two tracts on Fishing Creek
containing 100 acres each, and another tract on Mill Creek, Tar
River, and 11 negroes are to be divided between William Harris, Nancy

daughter Fanny Kelly Duty, $200.00 divided between them; to my
children, excepting Fanny Kelly Duty, all remainder of my estate, the
children of daughter Fanny K. Duty taking a child's part, in room of
their mother; my son George W. Harris to be given the $200.00 to keep
in trust for the children of my daughter and give to them when of age

daughter Caroline W. Harris, negroes which she is not to take until
the younger children are educated and a featherbed and furniture; to

son Andrew Jackson Harris, at death or remarriage of my wife Rebecca,
negroes and half the value of land I now live on; to son Andrew J.,

Mary M(agdalene)Cooke, being frail of body and in ill health, wills
to her sister Elizabeth Harris my negro woman Terese; to my brother
John D(onaldson)Cooke, a negro boy Daniel; to Mary B. Cooke, daughter
of Richard H. Cooke, a bed and furniture when she is 21 years old or
marries; to my brother Richard Henry Cooke, $1.00; to brother Thomas
Cooke, $1.00;to nephew Thomas B. Cooke, $50.00; all residue of my
estate to be sold and, after debts and legacies and other expenses
paid, to be divided to children of Richard W. Cooke, one equal part;
to sister Priscilla Landers (Landis) and her heirs forever, one equal

Richard Donaldson Cooke wills to have all debts paid; to sons Richard
and John Donaldson, and my daughter Priscilla Landers, each six
pence; to grandson Richard Henry Landers, a negro girl and her
increase; to my daughter Mary Magdalene Cooke, a negro named Teresa
and her increase, and a featherbed and furniture; to daughter
Elizabeth Cooke, a negro girl named Fida and a boy named Hamlet, and
a fetherbed and furniture; to sons Thomas and Richard Henry Cooke,
all the rest of my estate, real and personal, divided between them as
they may agree to, except a negro girl named Dina to my wife
Elizabeth Cooke, to dispose of as she wishes at her death.  My sons
Thomas and Richard Henry to treat their mother with particular
tenderness.  Exrs: sons Thomas and Richard Henry Cooke.  Wts: Abagail
