CONNOLLY y McCORMACK

Welcome to this genealogy website .. inside is information about this family, and their many ancestors. Read, and copy if desired -- especially for research.
As a preface, while the surname of my family is spelled CONNOLLY, it was spelled Conley by my Great-grandfather. He acceded to a popular spelling form of it after living in the Portland Maine & Boston Massachusetts area. As he pronounced it, we pronounce it as: CONN--LEE .. two syllables. It is actually shortened from the McConley Clan, which is also the CLAN McCanley-McKinley-McConley, with the sept MacNaughton; and is of Scottish ancestry with others of the British Isles.
Bryan Conley, my great-grandfather was born in Lietrim County Ireland, married in Portand Maine USA, a McGowan; his mother Catherine was a McGowan - her maiden name; and his father is John Conley. His branch of the Conleys had dropped the Mac for a few generations precedent, and it was occasionally applied.
