Scrubber Chimney

This was part of a scrubbing mill where quarried flagstone [Haslingden Flags] were made smooth - ti collapsed in the winter of 1984/5.

Ogdens Reservoir

This was completed in 1912, fearing pollution by the population, the water company de-populated the area by terminating leases on all the cottages and farms in the valley.

Calf Hay Reservoir

There are ruins of Cottages [one with a pantry cut out of solid rock] and farms with very informative information boards giving details of their history and layout. They were farms with their own weaving frames in a separate room in the cottage

• Completed 1867 at Crowtrees about half mile from present loc.
• Consecrated 1883
• Community declined over next 25 years as Bury dist. water board purchased land to extend the Grane reservoirs
• St. Stephens fell into disrepair.
• Mission room in haslingden built 1911
• By 1921 Holden Wood leaching company had donated 1 acre at Three Lane Endsfor a church.
• 1923 Bishop of Manchester recommended that St. Stephens be re-errected at Three Lane Ends
• Rebuilding happened May-Sep 1925
• 25 Sep 1927 Consecrated with new steeple top, vestry, and a memorial stained glass window to the 16 men of par. who died in 1914-18 war [as specified by bleaching company].
• 1948 Second memorial in brass to 3 men died in 1939-46 War
• 1986 church closed due to numbers.
• Remaining congreation joined with St. James'
• 1991 altar, cross and memorial plaques both WW removed to St. James.
• 1995 bought for conversion to antiques showroom.
