These pages will follow the family of James Corbet and Susan Hewitt from Ireland to Ayrshire, Scotland and some of their children on to Ontario, Canada.

My name is Cathy Corbett-Phillips, I began my search for my Corbett's with my great grandfather William Corbett in Ontario, Canada and from his marriage record found his family in Bentinck Twp., Grey County, Ontario. William's father, Joseph Corbet , I have traced back to being born in Kirkmichael, Ayrshire, Scotland. I found him with his family,
James Corbet and Susan Hewitt, in the 1841 census of Ayrshire, Scotland and that record shows both James and Susan were born in Ireland. The only connections I have found of the family in Ireland are James and Susan's marriage in 1812 in the index for the Diocese of Killaloe and their son, John, states on his daughters 1855 birth record in the Scottish records that he was born in the County of Monaghan.
