The Redwood County Genealogical Society was formed in the fall of 1999. I had asked around if anyone has ever helped others in finding their family line around Redwood County, only to find out that the answer was no. There have been bits and peices of this done, but nothing really done to this level. All of our volunteers have full times jobs, and find small windows of time to help others, so we do what we can.
Renville County Historical Society has a HUGE library available for the public for research, but there has never been a cemetery book. Speaking from personal experice, when I have run into a county that has created this tool for research, it helped my family research by leaps and bounds. So I decided to do this very task.
The Redwood Falls Cemetery was the largest hurdle of this project mainly because I started with all the small cemeteries first and began to run out of patience of this project. However, the Redwood Falls Cemetery was completed with hand written notes (not computerized as of yet) but has over 8,000 burials. Talk about a project! However, the last cemetery is the Sanborn Cemetery which is on the very southern edge of Redwood County, so once this is completed the entire county has been completed. The cemetery index program was created by myself and help with my cousin from Ohio who is a master of Microsoft Access, and will help printing the book a much easier task.
My friend "Buff" has helped many individuals in their genealogical research, so you will find her link below. If you would like to request a research request, please download the PDF file to the left and submit it.
At the top of this page you are probably seeing an advertisement from http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com. I am unable to remove this banner which is unfortunate, and does interfear with the page itself in this format. If you are also tired of the anoying pop-up's also associated with this website, and if you don't have Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack 2 installed, please download a pop-up blocker to help protect your comptuer system from advertisements. A free pop-up blocker is available at Microsoft, click here for details for the MSN toolbar. Plus... if you would like to scan your computer system with Symantec's assistance (makers of Norton AntiVirus), just click here and you will be directed to that site.
Plus... I'm still trying to rebuild this site to something new and up to date, so some of the links might not work quite yet.
