Know all men by these presents that I Edward Reynolds Senr of the State and district aforesaid (________) that for and in consideration of the natural good will and affection I have and do bear unto Robert Sammons Junr Son of Susannah Sammons I do give grant confirm and (release) unto the said Robert Sammons Junr a certain tract or parcel of land containing ninety eight acres ssituated in the said district near Bay Branch and hath such shape and marks buttings and boundings as the above plat represents to have and to hold (__) (___) singular the rights (numbers)and appurtenances to the said premesis belonging or in anywise incident thereunto to have and to hold the above named premises unto the above named Robert Sammons Junr with the exception known and considered that above premises shall remain in my possession during the term of my natural life at which time the said Robert Sammons shall take uninterrupted possession of the said premises and if the said Robert shall die without a lawful heir then the said premises to be returned into my estate warranted against myself my heirs executors and administrators and assigns from lawfully claiming the same or any part thereof.         J.W. SAMMONS PASSES
        J.W. Sammons, 77, passed away Monday morning at 9:10 o'clock at the family home four miles west of Teague on highway No. 7, following a short illness. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J.W. Mills of Tehuacana at the family home Tuesday afternoon, and internment was made in cotton Gin cemetery at 2:30 o'clock. He is survived by his wife and several nephews and nieces.

        James Wiley Sammons left Darlington County South Carolina in the fall of 1869 at the age of 9. He traveled with his brother John Hansel Sammons and his uncle J.W. Thomas. Also in the group were J.W. Thomas' mother, one brother and one sister, Mrs. T.J. Sexton, and their respective families. The party consisted of 7 adults and 14 children. The group arrived first in Calvert, TX then moved on to Navarro County finally settling in Techuacana. J.W. Thomas died on May 24, 1915 in Techuana, TX.

      John Hansel Sammons left Darlington County South Carolina in the fall of 1869 at the age of 10. He traveled with his brother J.W. Sammons and his uncle J.W. Thomas. Also in the group were J.W. On the same page next to the Thomas family, Dwelling 26, Family 26: Samons, John, age 14, Labore, born SC and Samons, James, age 10 Laborer, born SC.

      John Hansel owned gins in Lott, Moran and Albany, TX and was a farmer/rancher. He was a 32 degree Mason and a lifetime member of the Methodist Church.

      Migrated to Texas with family group in 1873 at age seven and was orphaned when her parents died the following year. We do not know who took her in and raised her but do know that she met John Hansel Sammons while attending a rural school at Bowman Grove in Hill County Texas. J. H. Sammons was her teacher.
