IN THE MATTER OF the Estate
of John Sammons

						TO THE COUNTY COURT OF SAID COUNTY

The petition of Jeremiah Cox    Respectfully showeth that John Sammons
departed this life at his residence in this County on or about the 10th day of 
February 1853 intestate ---

That said deceased died possessed of certain personal property in the State of Illinois, 
the value whereof does not exceed the sum of about Eight hundred Dollars, as your petitioner 
has been informed and believes, that said deceased has left him surviving Robert Sammons, 
Wm L. Sammons, Thomas Sammons, Abner Sammons, Mary Anderson wife of John Anderson, Martha 
Shuff wife of John Shuff, and James Sammons the last named being a Minor

WHO are the only next of kin, that said deceased was -------------- an inhabitant of the
County of Morgan, by means whereof, as your petitioner has been informed and believes the 
ORDERING and GRANTING Administration of all and singular the goods, chattels and credits, 
whereof said deceased died possessed in said State, and also the auditing, allowing and 
final discharging the Accounts thereof, doth belong unto the County of Court of said 
County: Your petitioner therefore prays that you will appoint him the said Jeremiah Cox 
administrator of the said John Sammons giving letters to him as such -----

		Jeremiah Cox   the above named petitioner being duly sworn and
examined before G.A. Dunlap Clerk of the County Court of Morgan County, do depose
and say that I have heard the foregoing petition read, to which I have subscribed
my name, and that I know the contents thereof, and that the same are true of my
knowledge, except as to these matters therein stated to be on information or belief
and as to those matters I believe the same to be true.

$855.76 for distribution betwn to 7 Children & legal heirs of dec'd -- Which will 
be 122.25 to Each to Wit, Robert Sammons, William S Sammons, Thomas Sammons, 
Abner Sammons, Mary Sammons wife of John Anderson, Martha Shuff wife of John 
Shuff and James Sammons, and I am ready to pay all of them that I have Not 
heretofor paid and who are not in debted to Said Estate
