Newton C. Sammons, 93, veteran of the Civil War, died at his home, 309 West 14th Street, at 2:30 am Monday. Mr. 
Sammons served in the 21st Missouri Infantry as a private with the Union forces.
He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. May Kelley, and Mrs. Sarah Haley of LR, Mrs. Minnie Clark of St. Louis, 
MO, and Mrs. Lillie Martin of Lancaster Mo; three sons, Dave Sammons of Bald Knob, Bud Sammons of LR, and George 
Sammons of Chillicothe, MO.  Funeral services will be held at the Griffin-Leggett Funeral Home at 2:30 pm Tuesday 
by the Rev. Roy Gillam.  Burial will be in the Bayou Meto Cemetery near Jacksonville.  Pallbearers will be Otis 
Curlee, William Curlee, Theodore Caldwell, Walter Haley, Wilber Sammons and Willard Sammons.
