Power of Attorney - Sammons & Dunn to Lyell 
(Deed Book 7, page 155, Greensville Co. VA,)

KNOW all men by these presents that we Abner Sammons and Susan his wife
formerly Susan Dunn, Thomas Dunn, Patsey Dunn, Walter Sammons and his
wife Lucy Formerly Lucy Dunn, Elizabeth Dunn, Nancy Dunn, Jane Dunn,
James Dunn, Richard Sammons and Polly his wife formerly Polly Dunn, all
of the State of Tennessee and residing in the Counties of Williamson 
and Rutherford, reposing full confidence in the integrity and capacity
of William Lyell of the State aforesaid and County of Rutherford, have
and do by these presents constitute and appoint the said William Lyell
our True and lawful attorney for us and in our names to go to the State
of Virginia, Greensville County, and to sue for and to receive,recover,
and receipt for all sums or sum of money, negroes or other personal
property, which we may have inherited from the estates Lucretia Dunn,
Drury Dunn and Nancy Dunn dec'd. And our said attorney is authorised to
receive all such estate in whosesoever hands the same shall be found, 
whether in the hands of Executors and administrators or other person or
persons. Which property descended to us as the heirs at law and 
distributees of the said Lucretia Dunn, Drury Dunn and Nancy Dunn, in 
right of ourselves and of our wives.- And our said attorney is further
authorised to make any arrangement that shall advance the interest of
said distributees in the sale or partition of any and all real estate
which we may have inherited as aforesaid, and to sell the same, and to
give bond to the purchaser or purchasers for title.- And our said 
attorney is authorised by us in these presents to make a title to 
whatever he shall sell of real or personal estate: Which conveyance we
hereby ratify and confirm.- And all things done by our said attorney in 
the premises we hereby ratify and confirm. In testimony whereof we have 
hereunto set our hands and affixed our seals this 22nd day of October
1833.

Rutherford County} Be it remembered that there came before us acting
Justices of the peace for the County and State aforesaid,Abner Sammons,
Susan Sammons, Thomas Dunn, Patsey Dunn, Walter Sammons, Lucy Sammons,
Elizabeth Dunn, Nancy Dunn, Jane Dunn, James Dunn, Richard Sammons and
Polley Sammons, and subscribed the foregoing power of attorney and
acknowledged the same to be their act and deed for the purposes therein
mentioned:Given under our hands and seals this 22nd day of October 1833.

Rutherford County} I John R.Laughlin Clerk of the County Court of pleas
and quarter sessions of said County do certify that B.C.Ransom and John
Ransom Esquires before whom Thomas, Patsey, Elizabeth, Jane, James, 
Nancy Dunn and Abner Saloms & his wife Susan, Rich'd Saloms & Polly his
wife, Waron Samons & his wife Lucy, Polly Saloms, Susan Salmons and 
Lucy Salmons acknowledged the foregoing Power of attorney are acting
Justices of the peace for the said County and that their official acts
are entitled to full faith & credit. In Testimony whereof I have 
hereunto set my hand and affixed the seal of said at office in 
Murfreesborough 22nd day of October A.D. 1833.

Rutherford County} I John Fletcher Chairman of the County Court of said
County do certify that John R.Lauglin whose signature appears to the
certificate annexed is the acting Clerk of said Court, that his said
attestation is in due form of law and that his official acts are 
entitled to full faith and credit in any Court or office in the United
States: Given under my hand & seal 22 October 1833.

January 1834 and together with the certificates annexed admitted to
record.
