Watson Sammons (spelled Salmons here), to Lacy Dunn, 21 October 1830, in Rutherford Co.
In Power of Attorney - Sammons & Dunn to Lyell, Deed Biij 7, p.155 Greensville Co. VA
Watson was called Walter in one section and Waron in another paragraph
(See Richard Sammons notes for transcript of document)

The 1870 census, Arkansas, Greene Co., Chalk Bluff Twp., Page 5/stamped as 260, lists a
Watson Sammons as "living with daughter, unable to work."
He was enumerated with:
Polsgrove, George 43 Farmer b. KY
Polsgrove, Nancy 36 b. TN {Nancy SAMMONS)
Polsgrove, Mary 20 b. KY
Polsgrove, Andrew 13 b. KY
Polsgrove, Thomas 11 b. TN
Polsgrove, Charles 11? b. KY
Polsgrove, ? ? 5 b. KY
Polsgrove, William S. 1 b. AR
SAMMONS, Watson 70 b. Virginia

There is an IGI record of a marriage between Nancy Sammons and George M. Palsgrove
on 27 November 1855 in Obion, Tennessee. Batch M519591, Dates 1838-1878, Source
Call No. 1007235. The age of the oldest child in the above census is inconsistent
with the marriage date. Possibly this was a second marriage for Polsgrove??

2. Now, in a speculative vein, there is this entry in the 1850 Illinois census for
Hancock Co., Page 282:

Dwelling 183
Thomas B. Sammons 27 Blacksmith b. Tenn
Eliza P. Sammons 19 b. Illinois
Watson Sammons 9/12 b. Illinois
It should be noted that Edmund/Edward Sammons (as you know he was listed in this
census as Edward) was living only a short distance away in Dwelling 172. This is
probably more than coincidence -- possibly this Thomas is a son of Watson Sammons
and named the baby after his father -- of course it is just as possible that Thomas
is the son of one of the other Sammons brothers and named the baby after Uncle Watson.
Probably he moved to this location as Edmund was moving there or was already there.

Found in Illinois marriages: SAMMONS Thomas to Huddleston Elizabeth 08 Feb 1849 Hancock

Note: Watson probably had other children, if you have more info, please let us know.
