Conway class reunion held
The graduating call of 1929 of Conway High School held its second reunion
recently at Larry's Banquet Room at McShane's Restaurant.
The class colors of lavender and white were used in the table
decorations. Four white roses were used in the centerpiece in memory of the
four deceased members of the class, Paul Benage, Raymond Cunningham, Floyd
Climer and Archie Goudy.
Pictures of the class of '29, the entire high school, the basketball
team, the broadcaster staff, found a place on the table, along with the much
tarnished loving cup won in the tournament by class A that year.
The president of the class, Dorothy Kelly Tribble presided at the
meeting. Special guests for the occasion were Mr. and Mrs. Esco V.
Kell of West Plains. Mr. Kell was school superintendent and Mrs. Kell,
mathematics teacher in 1929.
Fourteen members of the 27 graduates with their families were present for
the meeting. They were Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Tribble, Phillipsburg; Mr.
and Mrs. Ralph Dennis, Conway; Edwina Shields, Lebanon; Mr. and Mrs. Joe O.
Shields, Overland Park, Kan.; Mr. and Mrs. Ferrel Caffey, Mr. and Mrs. Earl
Wilgrube, Ferrel Davis, Ralph Hall, Mrs. Winona Cain, all of Springfield;
Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Calton, Waterloo, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Rich,
Lockwood [should be Lakewood], Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Massey
Lebanon; and Mrs. Edna Shackley, Conway.
A vote of appreciation was given to Mrs. Shackley for her interesting
work in making the 47th class reunion possible. But Edna says, "How
could it have been a reunion without the cooperation of my classmates."
A decision was made to have a reunion for their 50 years the last Sunday
in June 1979.
