The History Of The Anderson Family
I have information on the Anderson family starting
with John Anderson and spanning four plus generations .
This family ties with the
Cummings family through the marriage
of my mother, Mary Alice Evans, to Carl E Cummings,Sr.
My ggreat grandmother was Louisa Abegail Anderson. This is in progress and any help would be appreciated.
Descendants of John Anderson
Generation No. 1
1. JOHN1 ANDERSON was born 1740 in Scotland,
and died 1794 in Walnut Creek, NC. He married
CHARITY WATSON 1761, daughter of JOHN WATSON.
Notes for JOHN ANDERSON:
The surname Anderson , according to L G Pine,
means " Son of Andrew" or
"Servant of St. Andrew",
implying devotion to St. Andrew, the patron
saint of Scotland. The Scottish people were
Roman Catholic before the Protestant Reformation
and Presbyterian afterward. The Scottish clan Anderson
has been organized to bring all Andersons together in a
kindred spirit and collect genealogical records and history
of it's members. John came to America about 1760. He arrived
in Wilmington-Fayetteville, NC area. He had other papers
recorded on page 14 in a manuscripts collection in Raleigh,NC.
