Robert Brooke esquire Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia. To all to whom these presents shall come, greeting. Knowing that by virtue of part of a land office treasury warrant number fourteen thousand one hundred and eighty seven. Issued the Twelfth Day of September one thousand seven hundred and eighty two, There is granted by the said Commonwealth unto James Bush a certain tract or partial of land containing eighty acres by survey bearing date the second day of December one thousand seven hundred and ninety. Lying and being in the county of Russell and bounds as followeth towit beginning at a white oak on the top of a hill, South thirty five degrees, East one hundred and twenty poles to a white oak by a path in a line of Charles Beckley and with his line, North eighty nine degrees, East forty four poles to a gum?? corner to said Beckley and with another of his line ,North fifty-seven degrees East eighty-three poles to two white oaks, another corner of said Beckleys then leaving his line,North eighty-seven degrees, East thirty-four poles to a forked buckeye on the top of a ridge. North twenty degrees, West forty four poles to a sugar tree on the top of a hill above a spring ,North eighty-eight degrees, West two hundred and four poles to the beginning with its appurtenances to have and to hold the said tract or partial of land with its appurtenances to the said James Bush and his heirs forever in witness whereof the said Robert Brook Esquire Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia hath herewith set his hand and cause the lesser seal of the said commonwealth be affected at Richmond the seventh day of June in the year of our lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety-six and of the commonwealth the twentieth.

that by virtue and in duration of a land office treasury warrant number eight
thousand four hundred and seventy one, issued the fifth day of April one
thousand seven hundred and Eighty two. There is granted by the said
Commonwealth unto James Bush _____ of Henry Dickenson a certain tract or
partial of land containing one hundred acres by survey bearing date the
sixteenth day of March one thousand seven hundred and eighty three. Lying
& being in the county of Washington on the South side of Clinch River known
by the name of Russ9ians Place and bounded as followith
to wit beginning at three ironwood saplings, corner to Henry Dickensons land and running thence down the river one
hundred and fifty eight poles crossing a branch to a triple lynn?
near the banks of the river, South eighty two degrees, East twenty seven poles
to9 two white ash saplings on a steep spurSouth fifty
five degrees, East one hundred and two poles to a white oak and beech on the

the hills to the beginning, with its appurtenances to the said James Bush and
his heirs forever. In witness where of the said Edmund Randolph Esquire
Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia hath here unto set his hand and causes
the lesser seal of the said commonwealth to be affixed at Richmond on the

of April seventeen hundred and eighty two, there is granted by the said
Commonwealth unto James Bush a certain tract or parcel of land containing one
hundred acres by survey bearing date the sixteenth day of March one thousand
seven hundred and eighty three, lying and being in the county of Washington on
the South side of Clinch River, known by the name of Russians place and bounds

This deed made and interred into this 3rd day of
December 1887, by & between J. D. Bush of Floyd County Kentucky, of the
first part, & Thos. M. Bush of Scott County, Virginia, of the second part,
___ that for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred dollars (one
hundred dollars laid in hand, & one hundred for which a note is this day
executed by the party of the second part to the party of the first part) The
said party of the first part doth hereby sell and convey with general warranty
unto the said party of the second part a certain piece of land in Scott county
Va., on the south side of clinch river, it being a part of the Jessie Ramey
tract, & the land ___ conveyed consists of the entire interest of
party of the first part which he inherits from his mother, Mary Bush, in the
lands of Jessie Ramey, dec’d. And the said
lands have not been divided, but, the said party of the second part simply gets
the individual interest in said tract from the party of the first part, and the
said party of the first part is not to have any thing to do with the divisions
of the said lands, or to be at any ---___ for a division, should a division be

This deed made
this the 4th day of February 1885 between Thomas Bush of the county of Scott,
and state of Virginia of the first part, and Thomas M. Bush of the county and
state aforesaid of the second part. Witnessed that for and in
consideration of the sum of twelve hundred dollars in hand, paid the receipt is
hereby acknowledged the said Thomas Bush do ___ bargains, sell & convey
unto the said Thomas M. Bush & his heirs a certain tract or parcel of land
lying in the county of Scott and State of Virginia situated on the North side
of Castlewoods road and bounded as following to wit
Beginning at ___ on said ___ thence running north said road, on Eastward course
to J.H. Porters line & corner thence with said Porters line thence
Northward course with T Serg__ line to ___
Farmers line thence near the same direction with _. Farmers line near top
of chestnut Ridge to Jones Powers line thence westward course with said Powers
line to the Ramey line thence South ward with said Ramey line to said Castlewoods thence Eastward with road to the Beginning
containing 200 acres be the same more or less. The said Thomas Bush will
___ ___ the above descended boundary of land unto the said Thomas M. Bush with
all it’s improvements to wit forever on the following conditions to wit;
the said Thomas Bush is to keep in possession the boundary of land until his
death. Then Thomas M. Bush is to take possession of said land and ten
years after the death of Thomas Bush the said Thomas M. Bush is to pay his
brothers and Sisters sixty-two dollars & fifty cents each & $62.50 and
said land stands bound with said heirs until paid, now of the said Thomas M
Bush complies with the above conditions. The said land is his forever free from
all ____ witness the following signatures and seals this the 4th day February
1855.

Know all men by these present that I Thomas Bush have bargained and sold a certain tract or parcel of land it being fifty acres more or less, being in Scott County Virginia, to Jessie H. Bush and bounded as following to-wit; Beginning on a rock about 20 poles from James H. Porters line thence with said line to Travis Sergent line with said line to Plesant Horn line to the top of a ridge to Hessa Hornes line to the old Hartsock line striate to the beginning for which parcel of land I bind myself my heirs and executors to make a good and sufficient title.

Jr. Land Transaction with O. Barrett and G. V. Linchfield January
1888, Book 25 pg. 462.
This agreement made this 29th
day of January 1888, between Thomas Bush, of the County of Scott State of
Virginia, party of first part, and O. Barrett and G. V. Litchfield, their heirs
and assigns of the County of Washington, State of Virginia party of the second
part. Witness Th; that for and in consideration
of the sum of 15 cents per ton, the party of the first part here by bargain and
sell to the party of the second part, the exclusive right to mine and take from
the lands of the said party of the first part, lying in the County of Scott,
State of Virginia containing fifty (50) acres, situated on Chestnut
Ridge. The parties of the second part to select the above mention fifty
(50) acres, and adjoining the lands of Jessey Bush,
James Porter and Ramey lands. The parties of first part excepts buildings
Orchard & Garden from said lease all the iron ore on or under said lands of
the aforesaid, together with the right of ___ and ingress to and from said iron
ore over any of the lands of said party of the first part, for the term of
ninety-nine years, and the party of the second part, binds himself to pay for
the said iron ore at the end of each month after the same shall be mined and
divided. A ton to be 2240 lbs. and the weight ascertained by
the scales of the railroad to which the ore shall be hauled. Work
to commence within the next f years or this contract is void, and should the
work be abandoned for two years at any one time then this lease is null and

in the State of Va. Do hereby declare that I claim the benefit of the Homestead
pursuant to the provisions of an act of the General Assembly of Va. Passed 27
day of June 1870 entitled and act to prescribe us what manner and on what
conditions a house holder of head of a family shall set ___ and hold a
homestead and personal property for the benefit of himself and family exempt
from sale for debt and do hereby claim and set apart, the following real and

This deed made this the
28th day of May 1889 by and between Austin Bush of the County of Wise and state
of Virginia. Parties of the first part and Elisa A. Musick
of the County of Russell and state of Virginia of second part, witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of one
dollar paid in hand and the further consideration of the natural love, and
affection that I have for my daughter, have this day bargained and sold unto Eliza
A. Musick and do by those present give grant bargain
sell and convey a certain parcel or tract of land this being a certain boundary
that the said Austin Bush holds under right of possession, and by a decree of
the circuit court of Wise County that will appear and record at the Clerks
office of Wise County Va. And bounded and described as following, lying and
being in Wise County Virginia on the waters of Russell Creek known as the upper
tract of land owned by the said Austin Bush adjoining the lands of Claris
Wright the heirs of A. H. Nash the heirs of Mike Lark and others containing
(450) four hundred and fifty acres by estimation be the same more or less and
the said Austin Bush makes a reserve of the use and control of the said tract
or parcel of land during his natural life and then to fail to the said Eliza A.
Musick. And now the said Austin Bush does by these
presents warrants generally the title to all the above described lands with all
the appurtenances and, hereditaments belonging there
to the said Elisa A. Musick to have and hold to
herself her heirs or assigns forever in witness whereof the said Austin Bush
sets his hand and seal this day and date first above written.
