Last Will and Testament of Anna Hoffman


Anna Hoffman Schultz was the widow of George Schultz and my 5-great grandmother. She was the daughter of the Rev. Balthasar Hoffman and his wife Ursula. She was born in 1712 and died 16 January 1795.

The transcript of the Will read:
In the Name of God, Amen. I Anna Schultz of Upper Hanover Township in the County of Montgomery & state of Pennsylvania Widow and relict of George Schultz late of the same place Yeoman deceased being of old Age but of sound mind and memory blefsed be god and bringing to mind the mortality of my Body do make this my last will & Testament Concerning my wordly Estate wherewith the lord hath blefsed me this Twenty second day of January in the Year of Our lord one thousand seven hundred & Ninety five viz t First it is my Will that all my just debts & funeral Charges shall be paid off. And I give and bequeath to my eldest son Balthaser Schultz the sum of twenty pounds specie Money and further I do will & Order that after my decease when the said twenty pounds are paid off all my remaining Property or Estate shall be devided in five equal Shares or portions One equal fifths share of the same I give to the said my eldest Son Balthaser Schultz another equal fifths share of my Estate I give to my second son ChristG Schultz another equal fifths share of the same I give to my youngest Son Gregory Schultz. Another equal fifths share of the same I give to my eldest Daughter Suzanna Krieble wife of Abraham Kriebel of Towamencin and the remaining equal fifths share of the same I give thirty pounds thereof to my beloved son in law Abraham Drisher of Towamencin aforesaid and the remaining part of such equal fifths share of my Estate I give to the Children of the Body of my Youngest Daughter Eve Dreshey deceas d into equal shares & portions between them. Unto each of the said my heirs, their heirs & Afsigns forever and I do constitute the said my eldest Son Balthaser Schultz and the said my youngest Son Gregory Schultz to be Executors of this my last Will and Testament in trust for all the Intents & purposes in this my will contained.
In Witnefs whereof I have to this my last Will & Testament set my hand & Seal the day & year first above written.

Personally came each of the Witnefses to the foregoing Will and being affirmed according to law did say that they were personally present & did see Anna Schultz the Testatrix in the said Will Named sign & seal & heard her pronounce & declare the same to be her last Will & Testament and at the doing thereof she was of perfect & sound disposing mind Memory & Understanding to the best of their knowledge that they subscribed their names as Witnefses thereto at the request of the Testatrix in her presence of each other. Be it Remembered that on the 29th day of March 1796 the foregoing Will of Anna Schultz was proved in due form of law & letters Testamentory granted unto Balthazer & Gregory Schultz Executors therein named they having first affirmed well & truly to perform the same & to render an account according to law. Given Under my hand & seal & registered the 29th day of March 1796.
