Christopher Ziegler left a will on 07 November 1796.
Christopher was my 5great-grandfather. He was born in 1714, the son of the Rev. Michael Ziegler
and his wife Catharine Schrauger. He married Deborah Pauling and survived her. The source of the will is:

The transcript of the Will read:
In the Name of God Amen. Whereas I Christopher Ziegler Senior of Providence Township in the County of
Montgomery in the State of Pennsylvania widower find myself in an advanced Age But of sound understanding and
memory thanks be to God so do I on this seventh day of November in the Year of our Lord One Thousand seven
hundred and Ninety Six Make publish and ordain this my last Will and Testament And first of all I recommend
my Soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it and as touching to my worldly Estate I hereby dispose of
the fame in the following manner That is to say relating my eldest son Michael Ziegler as I have long ago
given him Two of my Horses so do I hereby give & bequeath the One of them to him as for his right for his
being my eldest son and as to the other Horse which I value at Twelve Pounds in Cash it is my will That it be
accounted for herewith to have received the same as in part of his equal Share of and in my Estate. And as
the whole of what is yet belonging to me is of a Personal Estate and as I have already given to several of my
Children as to each of those to the amount of the sum of One hundred Pounds in lawfull money of Pennsylvania
and to others a lefser sum. Now if it should not suit me in my life time to compleat to those to that sum
then it is my will that after my decease my hereunto named Executors shall at first pay so much out of my
Estate to those of my said Children so as to make up their said deficeincy.
And after all the cost and
charges shall be deducted then it is my will And I hereby devise and bequeath all the residue of my Estate to
my hereunto named Ten Children and to their Heirs and Afsigns in equal shares in the following Order That is
to say the equal tenth part thereof to my eldest son Michael Ziegler and his Heirs
And the Tenth part to
the Children and Heirs of my late deceased second Son John Ziegler in equal shares
And the Tenth part of
the same To the two Children and Heirs of my late deceased third son Andrew Ziegler in equal shares
And the
tenth part thereof to my Youngest son Christopher Ziegler and his Heirs
and the Tenth part thereof to the
Children and heirs of my late deceased daughter Catherine late the wife of Benjamin Mayer in equal shares
and the Tenth part thereof to my second daughter Hannah now the wife of Martin Lantis and to her Heirs in equal
shares
and further the Tenth part thereof to my third daughter Elizabeth now the wife of Samuel Bower and
to her heirs in equal Shares
And the Tenth Part thereof to my fourth Daughter Susannah now the wife of
Jacob Weifs and Her Heirs in Equal Shares
and the Tenth Part thereof to my fifth daughter Barbara now the
wife of David Buckwalter and to her Heirs
And the remaining Tenth part thereof I give and bequeath to my
sixth daughter Deborah now the wife of David Longenecker and to her Heirs
To hold all the above said
Legacies to each and every one of them my above named Children and Heirs and to their Heirs and Afsigns forever.
And I do hereby Nominate constitute and Appoint my tw sons in Law Samuel Bower and David Buckwalter to be the
Execurtors of this my last will and Testament and I desire that all may be done held and performed According
to the true intent Tenor and meaning hereof and I hereby declare ratifye and confirm this and no other to be my
last will and Testament.
In Witnefs whereof I the said Christopher Ziegler Senior have hereunto set my hand
and Seal dated the day and Year as first above written.

in the presence of us the Subscribers

Personally came each of the witnefses to the foregoing will and being duly Affirmed according to Law did
say that they were personally present and did see Christopher Ziegler therein named sign and seal and heard
him pronounce and declare the Same to be his last will and Testament and that at the doing thereof he was of a
perfect and Sound disposing mind memory and understanding to the best of their knowledge that they subscribed
their names thereto as witnefses in the presence of the Testator at his request and in the presence of each
other.
Be it remembered that on the 24
th
day of April 1804 the foregoing will of Christopher
Ziegler was proved in due form of Law and Letters Testamentary granted unto Samuel Bower and David Buckwalter
the Executors therein named they having first Affirmed well and truly to perform the same and to render an
Account According to Law. Given under my hand and Seal of Office And Registered the 24
th
day of
April 1804.
