Dear Friends:
   I have enclosed an inventory of what is known as the MacLean Cemetery on the Cumberland Point Road Cumberland Bay, Queens County.  As you will understand, my initial interest in this little cemetery is the fact that my GGG and GG Grandfathers are buried there.
   My other interest in the cemetery stems from the fact that the three different McLean families who are buried there all came from Kintyre,  Scotland one way or the other. Archibald McLean came from Kintyre by way of service for the Crown in New York; Duncan and Allan McLean came directly from the parish of Killian and Kilchenzie in Kintyre and the majority of burials are descendents of Hugh McLean also from Killian and Kilchenzie.  Hugh’s grave is located at the nursing home in Mill Cove.
   After each stone or monument, I have tried to identify each person.  All of my sources are either the 1861 census or the comments in local history books.
   Now there is another cemetery in the area known as the Grand Lake,  Cumberland Point Cemetery now located on MacLean Road (a new name ).  I discovered this September that the existing inventory which I had received from some one is very unreliable. 
   For example:  the inventory I had received has about 12 McLean / MacLean entries where in fact there are over 43 McLean / MacLean burials in this cemetery. I then realized that the title on the inventory said that this was a “partial” listing and indeed it is.

McLean 1844 - 1917  His wife Alice M. 1866 - 1922  [Note: Hector Archibald McLean was the son of Hector McLean from Scotland and Jane McLean, daughter of Hugh McLean and Jane McDougald. Hugh McLean came from the parish of St Killian & Kilchenzie, Kintyre, Scotland. His wife is believed to be Alice Maud Mary McLean, the daughter of Duncan Farris McLean and Rachel Hersey Camp]
	McLean - In Memory of  John D. McLean 1851 - 1932 [Note: John  D McLean was the son of  Hector McLean and Jane McLean]
	McLean - In memory of Hector McLean died July 15 1910 aged 79 years His wife Mary Elizabeth died Feb 18 1879 aged 44 years [There is a separate monument for Mary Eliza next to the above and in poor condition.] [Note: Hector McLean was the son of Allan McLean and Janet McGregor. His wife was Mary Elizabeth Cameron]
	McLean - In Memory Allen McLean died June 12 1863 aged 24  years [Note: Despite the first name spelling difference, this is a memorial to Allen McLean Jr,   Sea Captain and the son of Allan McLean described below]
	McLean - In Memory of Archibald McLean from Kintyre, Scotland who died 24th March 1801 aged 56 years / also his wife Catherine D. Died 1839 [Note: This Archibald McLean is the United Empire Loyalist]
	McLean - In Memory of Jane wife of the late Hector McLean 11th June 1888 in the 75th year of her life [Note: Jane was the daughter of Hugh McLean from Kintyre]
	McLean - In memory of Hector McLean died Dec 15 1869 76th year  [Note: According to the 1861 census, Hector McLean was born in Scotland and is the son of Duncan McLean and Janet McLean and brother to Allan McLean and the husband of Jane McLean. Like his brother he was born in the Parish of St Killean and Kilchenzie in Kintyre]

Peter D MacLean. Duncan McLean’s wife was Janet McLean from Gigha, Scotland and Allan’s wife was Janet McGregor from St John NB. Allan McLean, remarried after the death of Janet McGregor. His second wife was Mary Earle, the daughter of Richard Lawrence Earle and Nancy Fisher of St John, NB.]
