This sketch and report was made by Fred L. Corcoran, assisted by Mr. George West, for the Queens County Historical Society - Nov 1975. This cemetery is on land originally granted to James Steen. It is unusual as there is no number to that grant. The land is now owned by the Rothesay Pulp and Paper Company.
This cemetery is up the Canaan River by a deadend road from Coles Island. Mr. George West, who helped me find the graveyard, says that when he was a young man (b. 1903) the Church was standing, and there were a large number of headstones, and that it was all fields around the church. Now there is only the foundation of the Church left and two headstones. The graveyard has log sized trees covering it. One grave is surrounded by an iron fence, and there is a fir tree at least eight inches on the butt, and three maples growing on the grave.
