Wiggins Cemetery
Fanjoy's Point, Waterborough, Queens Co., NB
Due to the fact that I have fallen far behind with adding photos to this site, Albums have been added to this cemetery listings. It contain photos of all stones found at the date the photos were taken. It may contain items not listed in the transcripts, or have corrections to the entries listed here. Transcripts may have data that has been lost due to the passage of time. Dates list for the photos may be the dates they were altered for this site rather than the date the photos were taken.

The Fanjoy's Point Cemetery is a rather old cemetery on the shores of the Grand Lake at Waterborough, Queens County. It is approximately one mile north of Lakeside Provincial Park and about one quarter mile off the Trans-Canada Highway. It is located on a point of land out on the lake and is surrounded by summer cottages; also it is surrounded by trees but is not really overgrown. Besides the inscriptions recorded herein there appears to be at least twenty-five other graves marked by fieldstones at head and foot. Some of these fieldstones have indications of inscriptions on them, but apart from one set of initials (recorded) nothing is legible. The dates on the other stones range from 1815 to 1885.
This data was collected by several members of the Queens County Historical Society, who visited it on the day of their annual picnic, 4 Aug 1975.

*NOTES:  by Dr. Mildred Smith

* Wiggin's Family Cemetery, on land of Jacob Wiggins.
Anglican Cemetery of 1/2 acre starting at shore of Grand Lake, dedicated 1815.
In all deeds after 1815 the cemtery half acre is exempt from the sale.
The Slocum Family History in American Antiquarium Society Library, Worchester,
Mass, names nearly 100 buried in this Loyalist Cemetery. Each year there are
fewer stones and smaller boundaries.
Jacob Wiggins was the first one buried there in 1815, but it cannot be called
a Wiggins Family Cemetery only. His executors gave 1/2 acre of his land as an
Anglican Cemetery for their relatives and neighbours.
