I've hit the mother load on the Cawoods. Recently, I made contact with some Cawood related cousins. They had a wealth of information on the Cawoods going all the way back to 1200 AD! Almost simultaneously, my father found some documents in his possession written by Maude Cawood (my great-grandmother's eldest sister. The letters concerned William A. Cawood who fought in the Civil War on the side of the Union in the 23rd Missouri Volunteers.

My uncle Daryl informed me of a book: "The Hall Family-From Warwickshire, England to the United States" He says "It is a red hardback and is about 1" thick. It has a lot of info and I find it very interesting." It was printed in 1999 by Morgan Printing 900 Old Koenig Lane Austin,TX 78756. Mrs Adin H Hall address is 1910 Cypress Point West Austin, TX 78746-7109. Richard Adin Hall 4526 Creekbend Houston, TX 77035. I'll have to get a copy of this tome and compare their notes with mine.

I've added a number of pages: Arkansas, Indiana, Austin, and Fortner. I'll be fleshing these pages out with information in the coming months.

To fatten up this site with historical information, I've transcribed the obituary for Joseph Shelton Austin entitled "Life Long Resident of Gravette Passes Away". I have a picture of Jody Shelton, so I will add a page for him later with more information.

Over the last couple of days, I've been working on The Directory of Family Historians. This is a "profiling utility that anyone can use to find other who are researching the same family lines. While its nice to add names to our family trees, I would hope that people would use this resource to promote family histories. There are plenty of surname listings for people interested in hooking up with other genealogists.

Updated the Warwickshire page.

After joining WARWICK-L I received a number of good leads. As it turns out, there are two other people researching the Halls of Little Wolford. I've sent quiry letters but haven't heard anything back yet.

Began checking census records last night. I learned that ancestry.com wants me to pay an extra $100 per year for access to the US Census database. I opted not to pay it. Maybe I'll change my mind later, but after signing up for two databases already, I'm starting to think that I'm being nickle-and-dimed. Perhaps $100 per year is reasonable for the convenience? It had better be!

The Blereau message board at "Rootsweb" is now active. I've posted one message about the original Paul Blereau to immigrate to the US. Hopefully this will encourage others to add what they know.

My research on the Halls of Warwickshire continues. My object is to find the parents of Richard Hall (b. ca. 1750) who married Mary Shirley. I haven't found any Halls in Wolford before 1750, so I have extended my search to find Halls in other towns who had sons named Richard near 1750. I found a Hall family in Lancaster with a son Richard born ca. 1748; however, Lancaster is 137 miles from Wolford. There is no indication that this Richard has anything to do with my ancestor of Wolford.

I've been burning the midnight oil this past week and have uncovered much about the many Halls of Warwickshire, England. I'm assembling the data from a multitude of sources (all of them accessible online). In fact, if you just go to "rootsweb.com" you'll see links to most of the websites that I've used. I'm compiling the information into a small book: The Halls of Warwickshire from 1500 to 1800.

TIP: Before you sign up for Ancestry.com, make sure that you have fully explored "worldconnect" and "familysearch.org". Much of what I paid for to see at Ancestry.com was available for free from these other databases.

I found another graphic of a Hall coat of arms. hallcrest picture I'm skeptical that any of these crests have anything to with the common stock that I'm descended from, but they are nice adornments for genealogical websites.

My wife, Denise (the other "D" in "D & D's"), is sinking her teeth into the online databases this evening. She's turned up a whole load of stuff. With any luck we'll have some files to upload to "worldconnect" before the end of the year.
