Mattie and Charlie James Daniel

Charlie James Daniel was born August 6, 1910 in Sylvestor, Worth County, Georgia to Johnnie Benjamin Daniel and Sallie Eliza Driskill Daniel.

Charlie James married Mattie Cotton. Mattie was born June 25, 1909 in Harris County, Georgia. Mattie was the daughter of Thomas Lee Cotton and Lou Ella Gibson Cotton. Mattie and Charlie had one son James Lamar Daniel and divorced soon after his birth.

Charlie fought in WW II. He was a disabled Army veteran of WW II. He married Mary Francis Burnette and they had five children: Charles Francis, Gary Banks, Franklin Benjamin, Roy David, and Mary Dianne.

Charlie worked as a dairy farmer and later as an employee of the maintenance division of the State Highway Department.

Mattie Cotton Daniel married Curtis Griffin and lived in Texas until returning to Thomaston, Georgia. Mattie died December 24, 1976 and was buried at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery, Thomaston, Georgia.

Charlie died March 10, 1988 in Thomaston, Georgia and was buried March 12, 1988 at Antioch Methodist Church Cemetery.
