Thomas Fry was born July 13, 1843 in Quincy, Illinois to John Waller Fry and Mary Carlysle. The family moved to Burnet County, Texas in 1854. In his early days in Texas, he lived in a cabin now standing at Fort Croghan Park in Burnet, Texas.
Thomas was a confederate soldier (See Pension Application). He was in the horse mounted unit of the Texas Ranger Calvary. His first marriage was to Susannah Greer on October 17, 1865. From this marriage 3 children were born John Wesley, Margaret (could be spelled Margret-See bible birth record) and Nathaniel. Susannah died Feb. 8, 1868.
Thomas married Henrietta Belzora Altman March 25, 1869. Henrietta would have been 12 years old when they were married. Henrietta is listed with Thomas on the 1870 Burnet County Texas census as a 14 year old keeping house. Henrietta died in 1871.Thomas married Sarah Phoebe French July 18, 1872. To this union 4 children were born: Ophelia, Sarah Evaline (See family record), Benjamin, and Joseph.
Thomas is buried in the San Saba Cemetery, San Saba, Texas.
