Mrs. Hugh Clark Dead

Last Friday morning, Feb. 9, 1923; Mrs. Hugh Clark died at her home in the Pleasant Valley community.

Mrs. Clark was born Aug. 17, 1843 in Green county, Tennessee. She was married to Mr. Hugh Clark on April 14, 1861 in Cocke County, Tenn. To this union eight children were born, all of whom are living except Mrs. Oscie Terry, who died several years ago. The surviving children are: Will, Lloyd, and John Clark, Mrs. Fayette Proffitt, Mrs. Mose Linebarger, and Mrs. Sallie Luckie.

Mrs. Clark came to Texas with her husband and family in the year 1872 and settled in the Pleasant Valley community, where she has since lived. In early life she was converted and joined the Christian church, of which she was an enthusiastic member, and was a constant reader of the Bible.

Before her marriage to Mr. Clark, who survives, she was Miss Mary Ann Bible.

Interment took place at the Pleasant Valley cemetery, Rev. E. S. Cornelius officiating.
