Miscellany

These documents are of a more or less general nature and don't really fit anywhere else. So I have made a special place for them — and this is it!

  1. chgAbbreviations and Acronyms: Definitions (Abbrev.html 2007-06-14 16:25:14 30KB)
  2. About the Author: Yes! It's all about ME! ;o) (about.html 2006-01-19 14:33:38 8KB)
  3. CARDS - Handy Reference Data: I have found these small tables useful when printed on 4x6 index cards. (Cards.html 2006-11-13 02:43:27 23KB)
  4. CAVEAT: Fair Warning re Data Accuracy: Data presented in the pages on this site have NOT, for the most part, been personally verified by me. While I have made concerted efforts to collect these data from reliable sources, they should not be uncritically accepted as fact but, rather, used only to guide your own researches. (Caveat.html 2006-01-19 14:20:51 9KB)
  5. A Short Note Regarding External Links: (CaveatLinkus.html 2006-01-19 14:37:19 8KB)
  6. Colophon symbolism: A description of the symbolisms in the various devices used in my personal colophon, affixed to each of my web pages. (colophon.html 2006-01-19 14:38:01 7KB)
  7. Copyright Notice: (copyright.html 2006-01-19 14:38:35 5KB)
  8. Current Cousins Online: These are some cousins I have found on the web — or who have found me! (Cousins.html 2007-03-16 00:43:13 18KB)
  9. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ): Questions often asked. Answers, too! (FAQ.html 2007-04-14 09:12:44 21KB)
  10. M-Tafel: Matriarchal Table Representation: A new tabular presentation of ancestors is described. Similar to the Ahnentafel, or Ancestor Table, the presentation is essentially a balanced binary tree. The difference here is that only the female ancestors are represented. The purpose is to capture in as compact form as possible, all of the different ancestral surnames in their hierarchical placement. The new format is called a Matriarchal Table, or M-Tafel. (Matriarchy.html 2006-01-19 14:39:25 7KB)
  11. Outline Descendant Tree (ODT): Report Format: The salient characteristics of the ODT (Outline Descent Tree) report format, as used on this website, are presented here. This format shows the descendants of a person in outline form, where each generation is indented. It is a depth-first display, as contrasted with a breadth-first display. Each person's data is displayed on a single line (which may be word-wrapped for display purposes). The ODT is a very compact representation. (ODT.html 2006-01-19 14:20:03 37KB)
  12. Rencontres - Ancient Chance Meetings: Descriptions of chance encounters between distant relatives of mine, who are not themselves closely related. (Rencontres.html 2006-06-24 17:12:08 17KB)
  13. Regarding Sources: General notes about how I select and cite sources. (sources.html 2006-01-19 14:36:06 6KB)
  14. Genealogical Research Tips: I am often asked for advice on how to get started in doing genealogical research, or about other more specific aspects of doing genealogy. This page is my attempt to answer all those questions in one place. (Tips.html 2006-01-19 14:35:26 46KB)
  15. RootsWeb Move: Changes and Additions: (ToRootsWeb.html 2007-03-11 20:52:55 9KB)
