The Visinand family is originally from Switzerland. Around 1645 they moved to Germany. Francois "Franz" Visinand became a winemaker and worked at a local Wine Factory until his death that took place in Hassloch, Germany. Philip Peter Visinand was the first member of the Visinand family to set sail aboard the Snow Lowther ship and move his family to the United States. His daughter was born aboard the ship while crossing the Atlantic Ocean in 1731.
