Name listed as Jonathan Harsham Allen on page 48 GenServ Report Output: vitals 23 Aug 1997 of Manchester, see Mass. town hall record book Vol 243. The records of Essex Institute copied his name only as Jonathan H. Allen. The name of Harsham is used in lieu of Hassam (his moth- er's maiden name) and is the way his grandfather spelled his name. Gravesite records show Jonathan Allen died 17 Mar 1835, age 86 years. This also came down in family records, but the age is probably misstated, as was done on son Samuel who is bur. there also. George Caldwell said much of the family history came from Ezra Heala Allen who was his great grandfather. The chil- dren of Jonathan and Margaret were verified from original family records from one of his families in Arizona. These children start in 1754 and end in 1793. Records in St. Lawrence Histori- cal Assn., Canton, New York, and at gravesite in Wilson Cem (or Troutbrook Cem) on Hiway 310 north from Madrid. There is a fami- ly history at St. Lawrence County Historical Assn. 3 East Main St., Canton, New York 13617 which states: "In 1602 a William Allen was born in England. He married, and a son, Samuel, was born to them on June 28, 1632. William and his family migrated to this country and settled in Manchester, Mass. After Samuel married, a son John was born to them on Feb 12, 1666. Among the children born to John, after his marriage, was a son named Ezekiel, born in 1716. Ezekiel was a sailor and married Sarah Hassam of Manchester. Their three children were Jonathan, Ben- jamin and Ezekiel Jr., the latter after his father was drowned at sea in Nov or Dec 1752. Jonathan who was born in 1750, (this is shown to be 1753 on other records) married Margaret Hufcut in May 1770 at Dover, Dutchess Co., N.Y. They were married by Con- rad Vinegar, a Justice of the Peace. About one year after their marriage Jonathan and Margaret Allen moved to Manchester, VT. where a son, Samuel was born to them on 15 April 1773." !Other documentation: family group by Lora L.
