Sheriff E. Julian Peacock of Macon, identified the dead woman as Mrs. Harris. He did not have the names of the injured. He listed the drivers of the cars involved as Miss Florine Champion of Shelby and Roosevelt Watts of Macon.
The North Carolina party, Peacock said, was en route to Warner Robbins Air Force Base to visit Lt. H.R. Smith. They lost their way, he continued, and were returning toward the base when their car failed to stop at an intersection and crashed into the auto occupied by Watts, a civilian worker at the base.
According to information received this morning, all occupants of the car were injured with the exception of Miss Champion. The extent of the injuries was not known by relatives in Shelby.

BARBER BURNED TO DEATH HERE------------------------------- Raymond Harris, Loses Life In Flames Which Destory His Home ------------------------------- Raymond Harris, 45, barber in Shelby for the past 20 years, was burned to death in a fire which almost completely destroyed his home at 415 W. Graham street shortly after 2:30 oclock this morning.
Coroner Ollie Harris who investigated the death termed it an unfortunate tragedy and said that an inquest was unneccessary.
Funeral will be held from the home of Mrs. Sallie Mauney, 214 McBrayer street, Wednesday afternoon at 3 oclock with rites to be directed by Rev. Arthur Kale, pastor of Central Medthodist church and Rev. Harlan Harris, pastor of the First Baptist church.
BODY IN HALL.. The first report of the fire came from an operator at the telephone office, who turned in the alarm. Cruising Shelby policemen caught sight of the flames at about the same time and also turned in the alarm. By the time fireman arrived on the scene, flames were shooting out in every direction and putting out the blaze was a hopeless task.
The charred body of Harris was found lying in the hall by the entrance to the bathroom beside a pan with which it was believed he attempted to extinguish the blaze.
Investigation by the coroner revealed that Harris had been drinking and that when he became unruly his wife left home shortly after midnight and went to spend the night with a neighbor, Miss Thelma Cook, who lived next door. At 1 a.m., the investigation disclosed Harris went to the back door of the home of another next door neighbor, Mrs. Fred C. Yarborough, seeking his wife. Mrs. Yarborough said she could tell that Harris had been drinking heavily and she told him to go back home and go to bed. Mrs. Yarborough says that he went into the house and turned out the lights. She says that the next thing she knew she woke up and saw the firemen laying the hose while the house was in flames.
Miss Cook said that when she woke up the house next door was also burning but that she heard Harris calling his wife. The house was almost a total loss. It was owned by Flay Weathers of Forest City. The loss was partially covered by insurance. The blaze is believed to have started in the bedroom because the most complete destruction was in there.
Harris is survived by his wife, the former Miss Mary Lou Daniels; his father John Lee Harris, of Chesnee, SC; his stepmother, Mrs. Maude Harris; two brothers, Aaron and Dean Harris, both of Chesnee, SC, and a sister Mrs. Will Tate, of Gaffney, S.C.
