I believe this to be a photograph of George Welker Sr., my Great Great Grandfather and the accompanying page from the 1912 Kane City Directory shows a street named after him, which was the location, at one time, of the West Side Hose Company of which I believe he was Chief of the Crew. I have no hard copy source of this as yet, and I notice on his cap, it says "Rescue" which may be the name of a later Hose Co.

this photo and others I place on the site to which I am not sure who the people are, were loaned to me by a cousin, Dolores Stratton who has possession of the originals. They were among the possessions of our Great Grandmother Roxie Welker Hatch Rixford , daughter of George.
The 2 bottom photos , I took in the summer of 2002 , showing the location of Welker Avenue, which is now an alley with homes backing to it. The street sign is not there - sure wish I had it!
