Silas Larrimore

Silas Larrimore

Silas Larrimore is a bit of a mystery figure, although we do know a little about him. He was born around 1805 in Kentucky, probably Madison County.

We don't know when he moved to Missouri, but his son, Hiram, was born in the state in 1828. Neither do we know to whom he was married at this time. He had at least two daughters besides son Hiram, but no other children are known.

The next bit of information om Silas comes from Wayne County, Missouri, where nn August 15, 1837 he was appointed Justice of the Peace. The Governor of Missouri appointed Silas Sheriff and Collector of Wayne County on September 14, 1840. He resigned, for unknown reasons, in 1841. His first wife died sopmetime during this period. After the death of his unknown wife, Silas married Polly Ann Coates of, Calloway County, September 7, 1848 and all further trace of him has been lost. There is a possibility that he became a judge in the St. Louis area, but there is no proof as to that yet.
